About the Position

Associate Legal Counsel (Temporary)

Temporary Employment

Location: Bratislava, SK

Are you a skilled legal professional ready to make a meaningful impact in a dynamic, global environment? This is your opportunity to bring your expertise to one of the world's leading reinsurance companies, working at the heart of Swiss Re's Slovakia operations. If you thrive on variety, value collaboration, and are passionate about bringing the law into practice, we'd love to hear from you.

About the Role

Please note, this is a 12-month fixed-term position.

In this role you will provide critical support to ensure legal, regulatory, and corporate governance requirements are met with precision and foresight. Focusing on Slovak entities and other group companies across the EMEA region, examples of key responsibilities include:

  • Act as a trusted advisor, delivering clear, practical, and commercially sound legal, governance, and regulatory guidance to stakeholders across the business
  • Monitor legal and regulatory developments and proactively advise management on their implications for Swiss Re's operations and strategy
  • Coordinate management, board, and/or shareholder meetings, ensuring highest quality documentation and follow-up
  • Engage in corporate restructuring projects, contributing legal expertise to support Swiss Re's evolving business needs
  • Maintain the accuracy and integrity of corporate information in central systems and corporate archives, supporting the accuracy of due diligence and information requests
  • Develop templates, policies, and processes to strengthen legal frameworks and drive operational efficiency
  • Manage relationships with outside legal counsel and notaries, ensuring high-quality and cost-effective external support

About the Team

The EMEA Advisory team and the wider Legal & Compliance Division support the business units, companies, and jurisdictions. Our team thrives on trust, collaboration, and a supportive environment. We encourage diverse perspectives and innovative thinking. We work closely with a wide variety of stakeholders to support the company's strategic objectives while ensuring robust governance and the highest standards of integrity across our operations.

About You

You are a confident, proactive professional with strong organizational skills and a commitment to upholding strong governance and integrity. Your ability to manage multiple priorities while maintaining accuracy makes you stand out, as does your commitment to ethical business practices and discretion when handling sensitive information. You thrive in a collaborative environment but are also confident to drive matters independently. You demonstrate resilience under pressure, and approach challenges with enthusiasm and a solutions-oriented mindset.

Requirements

  • Legal qualification from Slovakia or another European jurisdiction
  • Minimum 3 years' post-qualification experience in a law firm or relevant in-house position
  • Practical experience with corporate law and corporate governance matters, ideally with some exposure to financial services regulatory frameworks
  • Fluency in English (verbal and written)
  • Experience working with digital systems, ideally those used to maintain corporate, legal entity, or governance information, and confidence in learning new digital tools

Nice to Have

  • Experience in the re/insurance industry
  • Experience in international companies
  • Project management skills
  • Additional European languages
