Job description

About the Position

Join our innovative IoT project team as an Automation & Manual Tester to ensure quality across the entire IoT ecosystem.

We are looking for an Automation & Manual Tester to join our team working on a research and development project co-financed by NCBR. The project involves building an IoT platform from scratch for monitoring photovoltaic installations. The solution integrates IoT devices, a backend for processing telemetry data, and web and mobile applications.

We are looking for someone who will take care of the quality of the entire solution - from device communication, through the backend, to the user interface.

Your role: As an Automation & Manual Tester, you will participate in testing the entire IoT ecosystem. This position is for someone who likes to analyze how systems work, automate testing processes, and collaborate with developers at the stage of creating new functionalities. You will have a real impact on the quality of the solution being developed from scratch.

Responsibilities

  • Designing and executing manual tests for the web application and backend,
  • Creating and developing automated tests for the user interface and API,
  • Testing IoT device communication with the platform using the MQTT protocol,
  • Verifying the correctness of telemetry data transmission,
  • Preparing test scenarios and documentation,
  • Conducting regression tests before subsequent system releases,
  • Collaborating with Backend, Front-end, and Embedded teams in analyzing reported errors,
  • Participating in planning new functionalities from a testability perspective,
  • Ensuring the quality of the product being developed.

Requirements

  • Minimum 2 years of experience in testing web applications,
  • Experience with both manual and automated testing,
  • Practical knowledge of one of the tools: Playwright, Selenium, Cypress,
  • Experience with testing REST APIs (e.g., Postman),
  • Knowledge of the MQTT protocol or experience with testing systems communicating with devices,
  • Ability to prepare test scenarios and documentation,
  • Basic knowledge of SQL,
  • Knowledge of Git,
  • English at least at level B2.

Additional assets will be:

  • Experience with IoT systems,
  • Testing devices communicating via Modbus RTU/TCP or RS485,
  • Mobile app testing,
  • Performance testing (JMeter, k6),
  • GitLab CI,
  • IoT security issues.

We do not require prior experience with photovoltaic inverters. The most important thing is experience in testing applications and a willingness to learn about the IoT environment.

We Offer

We offer the opportunity to work on a modern research and development project for the renewable energy sector.

By joining the team, you will gain:

  • The opportunity to co-create an IoT solution from scratch,
  • Working with modern technologies used in telemetry systems,
  • The possibility of development in the field of test automation,
  • Collaboration with Cloud, Front-end, Embedded, and AI teams,
  • A real impact on the quality of the product being developed,
  • Stable employment under an employment contract,
  • Private medical care,
  • Subsidies for sports activities,
  • Team-building meetings.

Why is it worth it?

This position offers the opportunity to work on the entire IoT ecosystem, not just a web application. You will test the data flow from devices operating in the field, through the backend responsible for processing telemetry data, to web and mobile applications. This is a great opportunity to develop competencies in modern IoT systems and test automation.
