About the Position
We are a startup building AI-powered customer support automation for e-commerce stores. Within a month of public launch, we got 60+ B2B customers and are growing fast.
Our team is small, engineering-driven, and consists of top operators who’ve worked at Amazon, Alibaba, and even one guy who worked directly for the CTO of Affirm and the founder of eBay. As a Backend Engineer, you will play a crucial role in architecting and building out the core systems and API integrations that power our self-serve product and AI workflows.
Responsibilities
- Design system architectures.
- Write production quality code.
- Set up cloud infrastructure and manage backend deployments to cloud.
- Implement testing (e.g., unit tests, Playwright), data monitoring (e.g., Amplitude), and error tracking (e.g., Sentry) on the features you develop.
- Write clear documentation, share your expertise with other engineers.
- [Optional] Expand features and improve the reliability, accuracy, and speed of our LLM orchestration.
Requirements
- 3-5 years of experience building robust and performant backend systems using modern technology. We use Python, FastAPI, asyncio, OAuth2.0, Pub/Sub (Protobuf), and Google Firestore (NoSQL).
- Deep understanding of backend development best practices, including system design, performance optimization, async frameworks, and scalable architecture.
- Take initiative and get things done.
- Quickly evaluate tradeoffs and make sound technical decisions in a fast-paced, changing, and often unclear environment.
- Proficient in English with strong communication and collaboration skills (we perform deep integrations with external APIs and most of the documentation you encounter will be in English).
