Category Analyst (Executive)
British American Tobacco UK has an exciting opportunity for a Category Analyst in Chiswick, London

The Category Analyst, working closely with the customer-facing team (Category Manager and Key Account Manager) and internal stakeholders, will turn shopper, market, and category insights into compelling growth opportunities. The role holder is expected to use data, trends, and commercial thinking to support the business in influencing decision-making, shaping winning category strategies, and delivering standout performance for BAT and our Customers.
This is a commercially focused Category Growth role, centered on insight, influence, and customer relationships. The role holder is expected to combine analysis with actions, supporting the category manager and working autonomously with teams across the business to uncover opportunities and make a real impact on category growth and customer success.
Responsibilities
- Supporting range reviews, helping protect core business, and driving new product development (NPD) opportunities.
- Helping the customer-facing team build strong relationships with buyers and external partners to support category decision-making.
- Building strong relationships with buyers and external partners to support category decision-making.
- Bringing the voice of the retailer into internal strategy discussions.
- Creating clear, concise reports and presentations using retailers’ tools (e.g., Nielsen, HIVE).
- Complying and implementing activities in accordance with the rules of laws and regulations relating to environmental protection, safety at work, and fire protection, and internal EHS or Sustainability standards and procedures.
Requirements
- Experience in: category analyst/executive roles, working in fast-paced companies, working with nicotine and Impulse FMCG categories.
- Strong analytical skills and high confidence working with data (Excel is essential).
- Ability to turn insights into clear, compelling storytelling.
- Quantitative and qualitative analysis.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to influence partners.
Nice to Have
- Experience working with Convenience Channels retailers and Co-Op.
