The Role

As a Commercetool Backend Lead Developer, you are passionate about experience innovation and eager to push the boundaries of what’s possible. You bring 8+ years of experience, a growth mindset, and a drive to make a lasting impact.

Responsibilities

Backend Services & Integrations: Define and implement backend services, integrations, and extensions, ensuring adherence to best practices, minimizing technical debt, and continuously improving platform quality and performance.
E-Commerce Solution Development: Design, develop, and maintain backend services, APIs, and integrations using the commercetools platform and microservices architecture.
API & Integration Development: Design and develop RESTful APIs and GraphQL services to integrate commercetools with frontend and enterprise systems.
Documentation: Create and maintain technical documentation, including backend architecture, API specifications, and integration workflows.
Community Participation: Act as a technical role model by promoting best practices such as modular architecture, code maintainability, automated testing, and peer reviews.

Requirements

Must Have:
- Education: A Bachelor's or Master’s degree in computer science, Engineering, or a related technical field.
- Experience in Node.js, Java, Typescript, and composable commerce architecture.
Nice to Have:
- Strong knowledge of solution design and architecture for composable and headless commerce platforms.
- Senior-level hands-on experience with the commercetools platform, including APIs, GraphQL, custom extensions, subscriptions, and integrations.
- Proficiency in backend development using Node.js (preferred), or Java / TypeScript, with strong experience in API-first and microservices-based systems.
- Experience working with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or GCP.
