In the Center of Excellence Data, we develop modern, scalable AI-ready data platforms that enable analytics and AI use cases productively. As a Data Platform Architect, you will take on architectural responsibility in customer projects. You will design cloud and lakehouse architectures that are powerful, secure, governance-compliant, and future-proof – with a clear focus on providing high-quality data for AI and ML applications.

You will work closely with engineers, governance experts, and subject matter experts to ensure that architectural solutions are sustainable in the long term.

Responsibilities

• Design end-to-end architectures for modern data platforms in cloud environments (Azure, AWS, or GCP).
• Define target architectures for lakehouse, data warehouse, and hybrid platform models.
• Take responsibility for architectural decisions regarding scalability, security, governance, and cost optimization.
• Design data architectures to support AI and ML use cases – including feature delivery and structured data products.
• Structure data flows for batch and streaming scenarios.
• Define modeling strategies (e.g., Data Vault 2.0 or dimensional modeling according to Kimball).
• Ensure the integration of data governance and compliance requirements.
• Conduct architectural workshops and translate business requirements into robust technical concepts.
• Support the implementation by engineering teams and ensure architectural quality.

Requirements

• Several years of experience (typically 5–8+ years) in data architecture or data platform design.
• Solid knowledge of at least one cloud platform (Azure, AWS, or GCP).
• Deep understanding of modern lakehouse and data warehouse architectures.
• Experience in defining scalable data models (Data Vault 2.0 and/or Kimball).
• Architectural understanding of streaming and batch processing.
• Experience in security, access, and governance concepts for data platforms.
• Ability to convey complex technical issues in a structured and understandable manner.

Multi-cloud experience and involvement in transformation or modernization programs are a plus.

Fluency in German and English.
