Job Description, Responsibilities & Requirements
About the Position
We are seeking a skilled Database Administrator to manage and support mission-critical Linux-based platforms within enterprise infrastructure.
Responsibilities
- Install, configure, and maintain Oracle PostgreSQL and MS SQL databases
- Perform database patching, upgrades, and lifecycle management
- Execute backup, restore, and recovery validation procedures
- Troubleshoot and tune database performance issues
- Manage database capacity planning and optimization
- Analyze and resolve production incidents related to databases
- Contribute to root cause analysis for incidents
- Perform log analysis on database and Linux levels
- Stabilize systems after releases and changes
- Participate in major incident bridges
- Collaborate with Linux and application teams
- Troubleshoot interactions between database, application, and OS layers
- Validate database health and availability
- Execute production changes during maintenance windows including weekends
- Perform pre and post change validations
- Provide risk assessment input for database changes
- Participate in on-call rota and out-of-hours support
Requirements
- 5+ years of experience as DBA in production environments
- Strong knowledge of Linux RHEL
- Hands-on experience with Oracle PostgreSQL and MS SQL
- Experience supporting mission-critical systems
- Strong troubleshooting skills under pressure
- Experience with backup and recovery
- Experience with replication and high availability solutions
- Experience in performance tuning
- Experience with log analysis
Nice to Have
- Shell scripting or basic automation skills
- Experience with IBM Sterling File Gateway
- Experience with IBM Connect Direct
- Experience with BMC Control-M
- Experience in financial services or regulated environments
- Experience supporting batch or file transfer platforms
