Engineer 3 – Network Engineer Product Development

About the Position

We are seeking a skilled Network Engineer with experience in DOCSIS, TCP/IP, and network automation to join our team in Lisbon, Portugal. This engineering position is focused on Network Automation, Software Defined Networks, and Network Virtualization within the Commercial Services line of business.

Responsibilities

• Participate in the evaluation, design, trial, and deployment of our next-generation network (NGN) products and service delivery.
• Partner with architecture, BU, service delivery, and operations to drive the ongoing evolution and support of the current platform.
• Provide practical knowledge of managed services for customer network implementations.

Requirements

• Experience with cable industry standard practices, interfaces, operating systems, and protocols such as DOCSIS 3.0/3.1, SIP, and PacketCable.
• Excellent understanding of TCP/IP, IPv6, BGP, OSPF, Multicast, and MPLS.
• Working knowledge of IS-IS.
• Prior extensive experience surrounding Ethernet and IP Service (Ethernet Private Line, Private LAN, Dedicated Internet, IPVLN, Internet, and Managed Router).
• MEF 2.0 and 3.0 understanding and support.
• BGP experience at an ISP level both Corporate and Customer facing.
• SME support in Layer 2 and Layer 3 protocols that support Business Services.
• OAM, CFM understanding and support.
• RFC2544, Y.1564, and Y.1731 understanding and support.
• IPv4 and IPv6 understanding and support.
• WAVE Services understanding and support.
• Working knowledge of IPS/IDS (Intrusion Detection and Prevention Systems), DDoS, Firewalls, and Security event management.
• CCNP, JNCIP certification and equivalent working experience.
• It is desirable to have experience in cloud management systems like OpenStack and VMware vCloud, Network management products, OSS products, and familiarity with industry standards, specifically ETSI.
• Operation Escalations – Adv Ops, Service Delivery, and Service Assurance support.
• Tail-F, Yang, XML, JSON, Java, Perl, Python UNIX Scripting languages required.
• Experience of building high-availability (HA) production-grade solutions in virtualized environments.
• Familiar with PostgreSQL, Oracle, Sybase, MSSQL.
• Any exposure to supporting Business KPI’s, network metrics, and performance analysis is a plus.
• Work within Agile/Scrum methodology and approach.

Nice to Have

• Experience with hands-on across a national Metro-E, multi-vendor network.
• A background supporting a service provider network is a plus.
