About the Position
We are seeking an experienced and proactive Engineering Manager to lead and scale multiple teams (2–4 teams) in alignment with long-term strategic goals of our client. This role is critical in driving technical direction, improving team effectiveness, and delivering high-impact initiatives across departments. You will be responsible for coaching Team Leads, partnering with Product and Engineering stakeholders, and building an environment where teams consistently thrive.
Responsibilities
- Lead and scale 2–4 cross-functional engineering teams, typically including Backend, Frontend, and QA specialists
- Coach and mentor Team Leads and senior engineers, fostering a culture of high performance
- Ensure strategic alignment and delivery of technical initiatives
- Collaborate with Product Managers to prioritize initiatives and deliver value
- Drive professional growth, system understanding, and cross-team improvements
- Oversee planning, estimation, and delivery timelines
- Act as a communication bridge between teams, stakeholders, and leadership
Requirements
- 5+ years of proven experience as an Engineering Manager or in a similar leadership role in a technical environment
- Strong background in software engineering with system architecture understanding
- Strong Python proficiency, enabling meaningful code-level guidance and performance support for the team (though hands-on coding isn't a core part of the role)
- Ability to manage multiple teams or projects simultaneously
- Hands-on familiarity with logging, monitoring, QA, and deployment practices
- Deep experience in mentoring, team-building, and performance management
- Strong collaboration skills with cross-functional teams and stakeholders
- Familiarity with modern AI-assisted development tools (e.g., Cursor, GitHub Copilot, Claude, ChatGPT) and how they impact engineering workflows
- Ability to guide the team in evaluating and adopting these tools effectively
- Ukrainian language – native proficiency
