About the Position
We are seeking an experienced ETL Consultant (Hybrid) to join our team in Halifax, NS or Toronto, Canada. This role involves architecting, designing, and overseeing the implementation of end-to-end data pipelines using Informatica IICS and Snowflake.
Responsibilities
- Architect, design, and oversee implementation of end-to-end data pipelines using Informatica IICS (Cloud Data Integration, Application Integration, and API Management) to ingest data from diverse source systems into Snowflake.
- Define and enforce Snowflake architecture best practices, including data modeling (star/snowflake schemas, Data Vault), virtual warehouse sizing/cost optimization, clustering, partitioning, and performance tuning.
- Lead the design of scalable ELT/ETL frameworks, ensuring reusability, metadata-driven development, and adherence to data governance standards.
- Own the technical roadmap for cloud data platform modernization, including migration strategies from legacy ETL tools (Informatica PowerCenter, SAP BODS, etc.) to IICS and Snowflake.
- Guide and mentor development teams on IICS mapping design, taskflows, connectors, and Snowflake integration patterns.
- Conduct architecture reviews, code reviews, and performance audits; troubleshoot complex data pipeline and query performance issues.
- Evaluate and recommend new tools, frameworks, and best practices to enhance platform scalability and reliability.
- Create and maintain architecture documentation, data flow diagrams, and technical design specifications.
- Partner with vendors (Snowflake, Informatica) on platform upgrades, licensing, and support escalations.
Requirements
- 10+ years of overall experience in data engineering/architecture, with at least 4–5 years in a hands-on architect role.
- Strong, demonstrable expertise in Snowflake: architecture, performance tuning, warehouse management, Snowpipe, Streams & Tasks, Time Travel, and cost governance.
- Proven experience with Informatica IICS (Cloud Data Integration / CDI, Cloud Application Integration / CAI, Mass Ingestion).
- Solid understanding of data modeling techniques (dimensional modeling, Data Vault 2.0, normalized/denormalized schemas).
- Experience integrating data from varied sources: relational databases, flat files, SAP BODS applications.
- Strong SQL skills and experience with query optimization on cloud data warehouses.
- Working knowledge of cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP) and their native services.
- Experience with CI/CD and version control practices for data pipelines.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to present architecture decisions to both technical and executive audiences.
Nice to Have
- Snowflake certification (SnowPro Core / SnowPro Advanced Architect).
- Informatica certification (IICS or PowerCenter).
- Experience leading migrations from on-prem ETL/EDW platforms to cloud-native architectures.
- Exposure to SAP BODS.
- Background in agile delivery environments and cross-functional team leadership.
