Responsibilities

As a Field Service Technical Specialist, your key area of responsibility will be supporting product development, customer implementations, installation partners, pilot programs, and field service quality. Your duties will include:

• Providing design support for the New Product team, analyzing user requirements, defining product specifications, and conducting field and simulation testing.
• Supporting customers with technical details, specifications, and data requirements based on Geotab product offerings.
• Supporting sales with technical applications based on requirements from Resellers/Customers.
• Supporting Installation partners and their installers in real-time when necessary.
• Providing specific technical installation requirements and wiring schematics.
• Staying relevant to new advances in technology and adapting to growing market demands.
• Being innovative by researching and presenting new ideas.
• Creating and implementing Installer Certification Tests.
• Updating modules with the latest Geotab Product information.
• Participating in installer performance evaluation and audits.
• Ensuring company installation quality standards are communicated and adhered to in the field.
• Updating all installation documents and product guides with the latest information.
• Working with installers to ensure they understand and use the Field Services department price list for installation services.
• Performing installations in the field as part of an installation demonstration, installation training, or Pilot projects when required.
• Creating installation videos and guides by taking photo sets and video content in conjunction with our L&D Teams.
• Sending out feedback surveys, supporting Field Services invoicing processes, and updating the ticketing system.
• Continually seeking and suggesting methods to improve both internal and external systems and processes within the organization, especially as related to installations and onsite services.
• Sourcing and qualifying new installation partners.
• Resolving installer issues and concerns.
• Supporting Geotab global strategic initiatives.

Requirements

• Post-Secondary Diploma/Degree or equivalent experience required.
• Experience working as an installation field service specialist in Telematics, Automotive industry, or equivalent.
• Experience with OBD and CAN communications, SAE vehicle standards, and serial data interfaces.
• Experience with both hardware and software integration required.
• In-depth knowledge of automotive electronic components.
• Experience managing third-party contractor relationships.
• Proficiency with automotive/electronics test equipment and hand tools.
• Knowledge of communications systems and networks, including Cellular, GPS, and serial data.
• Strong interpersonal relationship-building, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to manage multiple tasks and projects simultaneously.
• Ability to travel internationally up to 40% of the time.
