About the Role
As Financial Controller France at Storio Group, you will have end-to-end ownership of financial control, statutory reporting, and month-end and year-end close for all French legal entities. You will act as the recognized accounting subject matter expert for France, ensuring the integrity of financial statements, maintaining a robust control environment, and ensuring compliance with Group Accounting Policies, IFRS, and local statutory requirements.
Responsibilities
- Lead month-end and year-end close for all French entities, ensuring accurate financial statements in line with Group Accounting Policies and IFRS.
- Review, challenge, and approve journal entries, bank reconciliations, and balance sheet reconciliations, resolving significant balances prior to close.
- Own the review and integrity of inventory accounting, valuation, costing, and reserves, partnering with Supply Chain on physical cycle counts.
- Review and approve accruals, prepayments, and deferred revenue balances, enforcing strict cut-off procedures to prevent period leakage.
- Oversee fixed asset additions in the register, maintain depreciation schedules, and partner with Technology teams to assess and capitalize projects.
- Guide the Accounting Service Centre on Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable workflows to resolve issues and streamline close activities.
- Redesign and automate the France close process, consolidating manual reconciliations into an Oracle workflow within the central reporting framework.
Requirements
- Progressive accounting experience, ideally starting in a major audit practice followed by a senior reporting role in a multinational corporate environment.
- Deep understanding of GAAP and IFRS principles, statutory reporting standards, and month-end close processes.
- Hands-on experience managing balance sheet reconciliations, accruals, prepayments, fixed asset registers, and inventory valuation.
- Strong partner management skills, working across FP&A, Tax, Treasury, Supply Chain, and shared service centres.
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including lookups, pivot tables, and complex formulas.
- Experience working with enterprise ERP systems, preferably Oracle Fusion.
Nice to Have
- A professional accounting qualification such as ACA, ACCA, CPA, or CIMA.
- A bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- Professional French language skills.
We Offer
- Opportunity to make a significant impact on the financial integrity of French accounts.
- Act as the definitive interpreter of Group Accounting Policy for France.
- Lead statutory audit activities as the primary contact for external auditors.
- Identify potential financial and balance sheet risks across a rolling six-month horizon.
- Evaluate the impact of new accounting guidelines on workflows and update standard procedures with your peers.
- Partner with FP&A and Treasury to deliver weekly cash flow reporting and provide technical accounting insights for budgets and forecasts.
