About the Position

Forward Deployed Engineer (FDE)

Def-tech company in Lviv, Ukraine is looking for a Forward Deployed Engineer (FDE) to join our team on-site. An FDE works directly inside the client’s environment: understanding real processes from the inside and building solutions on-site - not through requirements gathering.

In our case, the clients are operational teams within the company.

We’re looking for people who love building products and driving them to the point where they’re actually used. Not for a ticket in a tracker - but because you genuinely enjoy seeing your solution work inside someone’s real workflow.

The work is simple in concept and hard in execution: find a real pain point in an operational process, understand it thoroughly, and build a solution that removes it. Not “gather requirements and hand off” - but take it to a working state with your own hands.

Writing code is 10% of the job. Understanding the need, embedding the solution into an existing process, making sure people actually use it and it delivers results - that’s the other 90%.

Responsibilities

• Dive deep into specific operational processes and find where the real pain is
• Design and write code that removes routine - from scripts to full internal products
• Apply data, ML, and AI where they genuinely help, not for show
• Take solutions from idea to completed, working product
• Coordinate with the team and the people you’re building for

Requirements

• 2+ years of commercial experience - but what matters more is how you think and what you’ve already built
• You remember how to write code by hand - code is a tool for creating, not a chore
• You think in products - you see not a task in a tracker, but a solution to a real person’s real problem
• You think in systems - you see a process as a whole, not a set of steps; you understand how a change in one place affects everything else
• You’ve built things and shipped them to production - you have solutions people actually use, and you can show them and explain why you built them that way
• You have broad product awareness - you’ve seen many different products and understand why some work and others don’t
• You can experiment without losing integrity - you test hypotheses fast, throw out what doesn’t work, and don’t leave a pile of hacks behind
• You see things through - stay organized, align with others, don’t drop details, push to the finish
