What you need to know before coming to Malta

Healthcare

Apply for the European Health Insurance Card. If you are not from an EU country, you can apply for this card once you have arrived in Malta and started work. 🔗 Learn more here

General costs in Malta

Food costs: approximately €50 per week
Public transport: approximately €1.50 per bus ticket or €10 by taxi
Social interaction with new colleagues: Eating out in Malta costs on average around €30 per person
Exploring the island of Malta: depending on personal preferences
Requesting a Maltese telephone number: approximately €15
Accommodation: approximately €700 per month

Accommodation

You will receive accommodation for free for the first 15 days, but we recommend that you start looking for accommodation before your arrival in Malta. You can find some apartments on Facebook or contact a local real estate companies. We have different amount of discounts at many agencies. Note: Protect yourself from rental scams by never paying deposits, holding fees, or rent before viewing a property in person and signing a contract.

What should I pack?

We recommend bringing a 3-pin plug adapter, your toiletries (toothbrush, toothpaste, shampoo, shower gel, etc.) and the things you normally use or need to feel at home in your new environment, as these are not provided.

Transport

The public transportation is free in Malta if you have a Tallinja Card. You can apply for it online in the Malta Public Transport website. In addition to the bus, you can also rent eCabs, Uber, Bolt, or even a scooter. If you have a valid EU driving license, you can drive in Malta without further permits.

Malta Residence Card

Start researching the Maltese residence permit. In some cases you will need to apply for this after you have rented your new apartment. If you need to do this, please contact our human resources department and they will guide you through the process. 🔗 Learn more here
