Head L&H Transactions Origination Japan

About the Position

We are seeking a Head of L&H Transactions Origination for our Japan office to lead the growth of Swiss Re’s Life & Health Transactions business. This is a senior, highly client-facing leadership role requiring strong relationships with insurance executives and the ability to translate clients’ strategic, capital, and financial priorities into actionable opportunities.

About the Role

The Head of Transactions Origination will be responsible for developing the transaction pipeline and advancing strategic reinsurance and capital management opportunities with Japanese life insurers. This role will work closely with Client Management, Pricing, Structured Solutions, and Financial Markets to bring Swiss Re’s broader capabilities to the Japanese market and deliver on our Transactions ambitions in Japan.

Responsibilities

• Lead the origination and development of L&H Transactions in Japan.
• Drive the Japan L&H Transactions origination strategy and pipeline.
• Build trusted relationships with senior client decision-makers.
• Lead the origination and advancement of strategic transactions.
• Partner with Japan Client Management, Pricing, and other local functions.
• Maintain a strong understanding of the Japanese regulatory, capital, and accounting environment.
• Represent Swiss Re externally with senior industry stakeholders.
• Lead and develop the Japan Financial Solutions team.

Requirements

• 20+ years of relevant Life & Health insurance, reinsurance, actuarial, investment banking, or financial services experience.
• Strong understanding of both asset and liability sides of life insurance balance sheets.
• Deep understanding of life insurer financials, balance-sheet dynamics, and structured reinsurance solutions.
• Executive presence and credibility to engage with C-suite and senior client stakeholders.
• Strong track record of originating and executing complex transactions.
• Proven ability to navigate complex stakeholder environments within a global organization.
• Strong leadership, ownership, and accountability.
• Relevant actuarial, finance, accounting, or capital markets background.
• Strong Japanese and English communication skills.
