We are looking for a Head of People Operations (m/w/d) to join our team in Hürth, Germany, or remotely. This is a full-time position starting immediately.
About the Role
At our company, we are merging established structures with the ambition to work as a unified group. Processes vary across different entities, and systems are not yet consolidated. As the Head of People Operations, you will shape this transition and establish key standards. You will build a platform of processes, systems, and services on which People & Culture operates across the entire group. You will report to the Director People & Culture and initially manage three employees in Hürth and Hückelhoven.
Responsibilities
- Processes and Standards: Professionalize our HR processes, define group-wide standards, and ensure they are implemented. Governance for you means not just rules but embedding: You will support the implementation, measure usage, and adjust where practice differs from the concept.
- HR Shared Services: Expand our service offerings for employees and managers, define the service catalog, and make service quality measurable. Solve recurring issues through self-service, automation, and targeted use of AI.
- Systems and Data: Manage our HR system landscape: data model, data quality, and interfaces. Create reliable reporting from these data, from KPIs for managers to headcount and personnel cost reports for management.
- Compensation, Benefits, and Time Management: Operationally manage the annual salary round, create or update salary bands, manage our benefits and vendor management, and ensure clean processes in time tracking and absence management.
- Labor Law and Compliance: Advise our managers confidently on labor law issues, decide when to involve external expertise, and manage cooperation with our law firm. Ensure our HR processes are legally sound and audit-proof.
- Regional Companies: Develop standards for the entire group and implement them in our subsidiaries in the Netherlands, Poland, and Lithuania. Where local HR colleagues are present, you will provide them with professional guidance.
- Workplace and Employee Experience: Office management falls under your purview. You will be responsible for processes and systems, as well as the physical work environment at our locations, and you will consider both together.
What You Will Do
- Work in a company that is evolving: JTL is financed by Private Equity. This means short decision-making paths, clear goals, and a willingness to invest in professional structures. Further acquisitions are part of our strategy, and you will build the capability to integrate new subsidiaries smoothly from a personnel perspective.
Requirements
- Qualification: A completed degree, such as in Business Administration, Business Law, Business Psychology, or Human Resources, or a comparable qualification with relevant work experience.
- Experience: At least seven years in HR Operations, People Operations, or HR Shared Services, with two to three years in managerial roles. Ideally, you have worked in a corporate group with multiple subsidiaries and know what it takes to implement a standard across country borders in a matrix organization.
- Conceptual Strength with Pragmatism: You think about processes from the end goal and build structures that hold. At the same time, you know when a good solution today is more valuable than the perfect one in six months and actually bring things into operation.
- Handling Complexity: Matrix organization, multiple subsidiaries, international colleagues, parallel projects, and a company that is evolving: This is the norm for you, not the exception.
- Labor Law: Solid knowledge of German labor law and the confidence to advise managers on individual labor law issues yourself.
- System Understanding: You have actively managed or implemented an HR system and understand data models, interfaces, and data quality well.
- Languages: Fluent in German and English, both spoken and written. German is usually our working language in Germany, while English is the language of cooperation with our international colleagues.
What We Offer
- Remote Work: Almost all our colleagues work remotely. If you prefer office work or just want a change, you can always use one of our offices. We also look forward to seeing you on-site for workshops, training, or trade shows!
- Flexible Working Hours: Thanks to our trust-based working hours, you can shape your workday as it suits you best. Whether you are an early riser or a night owl – the important thing is that you reliably complete your tasks and coordinate well with your team.
- Workation: Working while others are on vacation? No problem! You can work from abroad for up to 180 days a year – with a few country-specific exceptions.
- Meal Allowance: Through Hrmony, you receive up to €115.05 net per month as a meal allowance – perfect for a healthy and delicious lunch break while working remotely.
- Ergonomic Workstation: We support you with a flat rate so you can design your ergonomic workstation in the home office according to your wishes.
- Events: We love the “JTL Spirit”! Despite working remotely, we celebrate our summer party, our Christmas party together with the entire JTL Group, and regularly organize team events – for a real sense of togetherness.
- Fitness & Sports Offers: Whether with the subsidized JobRad or discounted sports offers via EGYM Wellpass – with us, you stay fit!
- Financial Support: We support you with occupational pension schemes and asset-linked benefits – on request and individually tailored.
