Head of Technology

About the Position

As the Head of Technology at Nova Ukraine, you will lead the development and execution of our technology strategy to scale operations and deepen our impact. This role requires full ownership of enterprise systems, including Salesforce, CRM, CMS, donation platforms, and internal IT systems, ensuring end-to-end reliability, security, and governance.

You will act as the operational lead for the data controller, serving as a hands-on leader who balances technological innovation with robust protection. Your work directly supports those affected by the war by ensuring the systems used to raise funds and deliver aid are resilient and compliant.

Responsibilities

• Tech Strategy & Budgeting: Develop and execute a multi-year technology roadmap while managing IT budgets, vendor relationships, and cost optimization.
• Enterprise Systems Ownership: Serve as the definitive owner for core platforms (Salesforce, NetSuite, Google Workspace, etc.), ensuring system reliability and seamless IT service management.
• Digital Fundraising & AI: Optimize platforms to enable digital fundraising (including donor-advised funds) and implement responsible automation to scale operations.
• Data Governance & Privacy: Establish organization-wide data standards and implement strict cross-border privacy controls to protect sensitive information across U.S. and Ukrainian systems.
• Cybersecurity & Compliance: Lead a risk-based cybersecurity program, manage disaster recovery, and ensure audit readiness across the organization.
• Team Leadership & Culture: Recruit, mentor, and lead diverse technical teams while driving a strong culture of security, compliance, and technology adoption.

Requirements

• 10+ years in technology leadership, with at least 5 years focusing on security and risk management in a cloud-native or cloud-hybrid environment.
• Language: Fluent English; Ukrainian is a plus.
• Proven experience in enterprise system ownership, specifically with Salesforce and complex CRM/ERP integrations, Google Workspace, including admin console governance, DLP, and Security Center analysis.
• Deep understanding of global regulatory frameworks (e.g., GDPR, SOC 2) and how to map them to technical controls in Google Workspace, with experience managing cross-border data privacy.
• Strong experience managing IT operations (L1-L3) and meeting operational SLAs.
• Strong project management and communication skills and experience presenting security strategies to the board of directors.
• Comfortable operating at both strategic and execution levels - able to define vision, delegate effectively, and step in hands-on when needed to move things forward.
• A strong desire to apply technical expertise to humanitarian efforts and support the mission of Nova Ukraine.
