At WE ARE META, we focus on finding the perfect match between our Rhinos and our clients. We are currently seeking a Java Backend Developer for a hybrid role based in Lisbon, Portugal.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain enterprise applications using Spring Boot, Spring Security, and REST APIs.
• Design microservices and event-driven architectures with technologies like Apache Kafka and RabbitMQ.
• Work with relational and/or NoSQL databases and data modeling.
• Utilize Kubernetes, container technologies, and cloud platforms (preferably AWS).
• Implement CI/CD pipelines, DevOps practices, and automated testing frameworks.
• Use AI-assisted development tools to support code quality, testing, documentation, and productivity.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams using Git and agile methodologies (Scrum, Kanban).

Requirements

• 7+ years of experience as a Java Back-End Developer.
• Strong experience in designing microservices and event-driven architectures.
• Solid background in relational and/or NoSQL databases and data modeling.
• Hands-on experience with Kubernetes, container technologies, and cloud platforms (AWS preferred).
• Proven experience with CI/CD pipelines, DevOps practices, and automated testing frameworks.
• Comfortable using AI-assisted development tools (e.g., GitHub Copilot, ChatGPT).
• Experience with Git and agile methodologies (Scrum, Kanban).
• Tertiary degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, or a related field.
• Fluency in English (B2); German language skills are a plus.
• Availability for hybrid work (1x/week onsite in Lisbon) based in Portugal (candidates should be based in Portugal with Portuguese or EU citizenship, or a valid work permit).
