Job description
About the Position
We are searching for a Lead DevOps Engineer (AWS) to join one of the Customer's teams responsible for Developer Experience. This team owns the infrastructure and tooling used daily by the Customer's engineering organization, including a GitHub Enterprise Cloud monorepo, a BuildKite-based CI/CD platform, remote development environments (Coder on AWS), and the overall day-to-day engineering experience. You will make sure developers enjoy fast, reliable, and frictionless workflows from the moment they clone the repository until their code reaches production. The position requires availability in a US-compatible time zone to collaborate effectively with the team.
Responsibilities
- Sustain and expand AWS infrastructure through Terraform and Terragrunt
- Oversee and enhance remote development environments powered by Coder
- Develop CLI utilities and automation scripts using Python and Bash
- Operate with Docker and Kubernetes, including container image management
- Strengthen developer feedback loops across the GitHub Enterprise monorepo
- Fine-tune build performance and the efficiency of CI/CD pipelines
- Refine pre-commit testing routines and PR status check workflows
Requirements
- More than 5 years of experience with Terraform for automation using Python and Bash
- At least 1 year of experience leading and managing development teams
- Hands-on production background with AWS
- Working familiarity with Docker and Kubernetes
- Experience with CI/CD tools such as Buildkite, GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, or comparable platforms
- Grasp of build systems, dependency management, and build performance tuning
- Strong communication abilities, proactive mindset, and empathy, together with the capacity to work independently with limited oversight
- Curiosity to understand how systems truly work rather than just following instructions, and readiness to thrive in a transparent, fast-paced startup atmosphere
- English proficiency at B2 level or higher
Nice to Have
- Advanced knowledge of Buildkite along with containerized or remote development environments such as Coder Workspaces
- Practical skills with Terragrunt, AWS Control Tower, and IAM Identity Center
- Extensive expertise in CI/CD, build caching techniques (remote caching, incremental builds), and secure CI/CD approaches
- Experience working within monorepo architectures and addressing the challenges they bring at scale
- Background in staff augmentation arrangements or client-facing engagements
We Offer
- Opportunity to work with cutting-edge technologies and infrastructure
- Collaborative and innovative work environment
- Competitive contractor terms
