Lead Java Developer

About the Position

We are looking for a Lead Software Engineer (Java) to take on the role of technical team leader for a team of 5-7 developers. The project is implemented in an enterprise environment, using modern cloud-native architecture and engineering practices that support high-quality and highly available solutions.

The person will be responsible for the technical direction of the team, supporting developer growth, and collaborating with Product and Engineering teams to deliver scalable business solutions. Hybrid work model: 25% of work time in the client's office in Scotland.

Responsibilities

• Technical leadership of a team of 5-7 developers.
• Making architectural and technological decisions.
• Responsibility for the quality of the delivered solution and software production standards.
• Collaborating with Product and Engineering teams in planning and implementing initiatives.
• Mentoring, subject matter support, and development of team members.
• Ensuring the delivery of best engineering practices such as Code Review, Pair Programming, TDD, BDD, and CI/CD.
• Supporting the building of secure and highly available systems in a cloud environment.

Requirements

• Minimum of 7 years of commercial software development experience.
• Experience in roles such as Lead Software Engineer, Tech Lead, or Engineering Lead.
• Experience in leading teams working in Agile methodologies.
• Experience in collaborating with stakeholders at various organizational levels.
• Experience in working with system and solution architects.
• Ability to convince with your technical recommendations and support business decision-making.
• What was the time distribution between programming and team management in your last role?
• Experience in creating and developing enterprise solutions with high availability and scalability.
• Experience in mentoring and developing the competencies of developers.
• Fluent in Polish and English (minimum level B2).

We Offer

• Hybrid work model: 25% of work time in the client's office in Scotland, with flexible onsite work arrangements agreed upon with the client. Onsite presence can be regular or in the form of accumulated trips, provided the average level of onsite work time is maintained at around 25%. The remaining work is carried out remotely from Poland, the United Kingdom, or another EU country.
