We are looking for an experienced Lead Software Development Engineer who combines deep technical expertise with strong leadership skills. You will lead a team of talented engineers, own the design and delivery of highly scalable frontend and backend services, drive engineering excellence, and influence the technical direction of DAZN's consumer platform.

As a technical leader, you will partner closely with Product Managers, Designers, Engineering Managers, Architects, and other engineering teams to deliver innovative experiences for millions of sports fans worldwide.

Responsibilities

• Lead the design, development, and delivery of large-scale Full Stack applications.
• Own technical architecture and contribute to long-term engineering strategy.
• Drive adoption of engineering best practices, coding standards, design principles, and quality processes.
• Design scalable, resilient, secure, and highly available cloud-native solutions.
• Lead technical discussions, architecture reviews, and design sessions.
• Mentor, coach, and develop engineers through regular code reviews and technical guidance.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams including Product, UX, QA, DevOps, and Platform Engineering.
• Improve platform performance, reliability, scalability, observability, and security.
• Drive CI/CD improvements, release automation, and developer productivity initiatives.
• Identify technical debt and define pragmatic modernization strategies.
• Champion Agile engineering practices and continuous improvement.
• Stay updated with emerging technologies and evaluate opportunities to improve the platform.

Requirements

• 10–12+ years of professional software development experience with strong Full Stack expertise.
• Extensive experience building large-scale applications using React.js, JavaScript, TypeScript, HTML5, and CSS3.
• Strong hands-on experience developing backend services using Node.js.
• Strong understanding of Micro Frontend Architecture and modern frontend design patterns.
• Experience building distributed systems and Microservices.
• Strong experience with AWS Cloud Services, including Serverless architectures.
• Hands-on experience with GraphQL, REST APIs, and API design.
• Experience with Docker, Kubernetes (preferred), Terraform, Infrastructure as Code, and cloud deployments.
• Solid understanding of application performance optimization, caching strategies, and frontend performance tuning.
• Strong knowledge of software architecture, design patterns, and scalable system design.
• Experience with build tools such as Webpack, Vite, Babel, and package management.
• Strong understanding of testing methodologies including Unit Testing, Integration Testing, and End-to-End Testing.
• Experience implementing CI/CD pipelines using modern DevOps practices.
• Familiarity with observability and monitoring tools such as New Relic, Grafana, Datadog, or similar platforms.
• Excellent problem-solving, analytical thinking, and debugging skills.
• Strong communication, stakeholder management, and technical leadership abilities.
• Experience mentoring engineers and leading high-performing engineering teams.
