Legal Counsel

About the Position

Genesis, a Ukrainian co-founding IT company, is seeking a talented and ambitious lawyer to join their Head Office Legal Team. This role offers a unique opportunity for professional growth within a large-scale international IT business.

Responsibilities

• Preparation, analysis, and review of commercial contracts, internal policies, and other legal documents.
• Implementation and maintenance of legal compliance in various business areas (data protection, marketing, payments, consumer rights, etc.).
• Analysis of tier-1 countries' legislation in data protection, consumer rights, AI regulation, and formulating practical advice and action plans for business compliance.
• Close collaboration with product managers and development, analytics, and marketing teams to mitigate operational legal risks and ensure compliance with legislation.
• Handling consumer complaints and interaction with government agencies during investigations.
• Proactive identification, analysis, and management of potential legal risks in jurisdictions where the company operates (focusing on North America, Europe, and Central Africa).
• Legal support for the company's ongoing operations.
• Communication with business partners, law firms, and service providers in various jurisdictions.

Requirements

• Fluency in English (including legal document preparation), international certifications such as IELTS/TOEFL are a plus.
• 3+ years of relevant experience in an international or leading law firm, in-house at a product IT company, or in the Big Four accounting firms.
• Successful graduation from a top law school.
• Ability to learn quickly.
• Attention to detail.
• Initiative and willingness to work on a wide variety of legal tasks and apply creative thinking to solve legal issues.
• Diligence, organization, and the ability to work effectively in stressful situations.
• Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.

Nice to Have

• Understanding of product IT companies.
• Knowledge of consumer rights and data protection laws in the USA, EU, and other tier-1 countries.
• Participation in court debates (moot courts).
