About the Position
Genesis is a Ukrainian co-founding IT company and one of the largest publishers of non-gaming applications. Together with the best entrepreneurs from Central and Eastern Europe, we create and develop global technology businesses. Our main markets are the USA, Europe, and Africa.
As a co-founding company, Genesis initially provides promising startups with the necessary resources and expertise for development, and then accompanies the project until it becomes an independent business. Currently, our ecosystem is developing 25 projects in four main areas: mobile applications, online media, e-commerce, and R&D.
We are looking for a talented, hardworking, and ambitious Legal Counsel to join the Head Office Legal Team. The potential candidate will have an exceptional opportunity for professional growth within a large international IT business.
Responsibilities
- Preparation, analysis, and review of commercial contracts, internal policies, and other legal documents.
- Implementation and support of legal compliance in various areas of business operations (data protection, marketing, payments, consumer rights, etc.).
- Analysis of legislation in tier-1 countries in the field of data protection, consumer rights, artificial intelligence regulation, and the formation of practical advice and action plans for business compliance.
- Close collaboration with product managers and teams of developers, analysts, and marketers to reduce legal risks of operational activities and ensure compliance with legislation.
- Resolution of consumer complaints and interaction with government agencies during investigations.
- Proactive identification, analysis, and work with potential legal risks in jurisdictions where the company operates (focusing on North America, Europe, and Central Africa).
- Legal support of the company's ongoing operational activities.
- Communication with business partners, law firms, and service providers in various jurisdictions.
Requirements
- Fluency in English (including the preparation of legal documents), international certificates such as IELTS/TOEFL are a plus.
- 3+ years of relevant experience in an international or leading law firm, in-house in a product IT company, or in the Big Four auditing firms.
- Successful graduation from a top law school.
- Ability to learn quickly.
- Attention to detail.
- Initiative and willingness to work on a wide variety of legal tasks and apply creative thinking to solve legal issues.
- Diligence, organization, and the ability to work effectively in stressful situations.
- Excellent interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills.
Nice to Have
- Understanding of product IT companies.
- Knowledge of consumer protection and data protection laws in the USA, EU, and other tier-1 countries.
- Participation in court debates (moot courts).
