About the Position

Middle Java Engineer

At the core of the role, we are seeking a Semi-Senior Java Developer to join a strategic initiative at one of Argentina's leading financial institutions. In this role, you will contribute to the development and evolution of backend services that support critical banking products and customer experiences. You will work with modern Java technologies, Spring Boot-based microservices, and event-driven architectures, participating in the bank's modernization process, including the migration from Java 8 to Java 21. This is an opportunity to contribute to high-impact systems operating in a highly regulated environment where security, scalability, and reliability are paramount.

Responsibilities

Develop and maintain scalable backend services that support critical banking products and operations.
Contribute to the modernization of legacy systems and the adoption of modern Java development practices.
Ensure software quality through automated testing, code reviews, and engineering best practices.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver secure, reliable, and high-performing solutions.
Participate in the evolution of CI/CD processes and software delivery standards.
Help drive innovation through the responsible adoption of AI-powered development tools and modern engineering practices.

Requirements

4+ years of experience developing backend applications with Java.
Strong knowledge of Java 11+ (Java 17/21 is highly valued).
Hands-on experience with Spring Boot and REST API development.
Experience designing and building Microservices architectures.
Knowledge of JPA/Hibernate and relational databases (PostgreSQL, Oracle, SQL Server, etc.).
Experience with testing frameworks such as JUnit and Mockito.
Understanding of CI/CD practices, Git, Maven, and Docker.
Experience working with asynchronous processing and event-driven architectures.
Ability to work autonomously and contribute to technical discussions and code reviews.

Nice to Have

Experience with Apache Kafka and messaging-based architectures.
Knowledge of MongoDB or other NoSQL databases.
Experience with Spring Security and JWT-based authentication.
Understanding of Hexagonal Architecture and SOLID principles.
Experience in Banking, Fintech, Payments, or other regulated industries.
Knowledge of Resilience4j, SonarQube, Testcontainers, or similar engineering tools.
Experience using AI-assisted development tools such as GitHub Copilot, Cursor, or ChatGPT.
Exposure to Java 21 features and modernization initiatives.
