About the Position
We are seeking a skilled Network Security Engineer for a 12-month contract in Spring, TX, focusing on firewall and network security management.
Responsibilities
- Review, assess, and approve enterprise firewall and network security requests (Port Opening Requests).
- Provide security consultation and governance for internal/external network connections rather than performing direct firewall deployments.
- Partner with DevOps, Infrastructure, Cloud, Cybersecurity, and OT teams to guide final solution designs.
- Steward relationships with network connection owners to identify, understand, and mitigate security risks.
- Support ongoing initiatives, including cloud migrations, tunnel migrations, and firewall rule consolidation/optimization.
Requirements
- Non-negotiable hands-on experience with Fortinet/FortiGate firewall policy management and rule governance.
- Strong networking background covering TCP/IP environments, network authentication, encryption, and perimeter security.
- Hands-on experience with site-to-site VPNs, IPsec, and network tunnels.
- Hands-on exposure to cloud networking and security (AWS or Azure security groups, routing, and cloud firewalls).
- Fluent English communication skills with the ability to clearly explain complex security requirements to business and technical stakeholders.
