Ophthalmic Nurse, South Dublin

About the Position

Cpl Healthcare is currently recruiting for an Ophthalmic Nurse on behalf of a leading private specialist eye care provider based in Dublin. This is an exciting opportunity to join a highly regarded ophthalmology service that offers advanced diagnostic, surgical, and outpatient eye care. Working as part of a multidisciplinary team, the successful candidate will support patients throughout their surgical and clinical journey while developing specialist skills within ophthalmology.

Responsibilities

Clinical Responsibilities

• Assist with ophthalmic diagnostic testing and patient assessments.
• Support pre-operative and post-operative patient reviews.
• Conduct patient history gathering and virtual consultations where required.
• Collaborate with consultants, nurses, and technicians to deliver high-quality patient care.
• Ensure accurate clinical documentation and record keeping.

Theatre Responsibilities

• Scrub and assist during ophthalmic surgical procedures.
• Prepare patients for surgery and provide perioperative nursing care.
• Support surgeons during procedures and ensure all necessary equipment and materials are available.
• Deliver patient education and post-operative instructions.
• Participate in patient discharge assessments and follow-up care.

Administrative Responsibilities

• Respond to patient enquiries via phone and email.
• Assist with procedure planning and scheduling.
• Maintain accurate patient records and clinical documentation.
• Contribute to the smooth day-to-day operation of the service.

Requirements

• Active NMBI registration (RGN).
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Patient-focused approach with a strong service ethic.
• Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team.
• Previous ophthalmology experience is desirable but not essential, as full training will be provided.
• Applicants must have the legal right to work in Ireland at the time of application.

We Offer

• Permanent full-time position.
• 37.5-hour working week.
• Monday to Friday schedule with occasional rotational Saturday requirement.
• Time off in lieu provided for weekend hours worked.
• Competitive salary package commensurate with experience (€37,000 - €43,000 per annum).
