Job No. 14845314 | Melbourne
Accenture Song | Media | Melbourne
At Accenture Song, we believe the future belongs to those who reinvent it. We blend creativity, data, and technology to reimagine how media delivers growth, effectiveness, and innovation.
The Performance Director is the activation authority and day-to-day people leader within our performance marketing team, responsible for operational excellence, delivery quality, and the continuous optimization of performance media activity.
You’ll own the day-to-day operation of performance activation, working across internal teams, client teams, and media and technology partners to deliver high-quality, commercially accountable outcomes.
You’ll operate within a sophisticated performance environment spanning a complex, multi-stage commercial funnel, data privacy requirements, app acquisition, and CRM-triggered lifecycle programs. You’ll also lead a specialist team with access to AI-assisted optimization tools, measurement infrastructure, and global technology partnerships.
Responsibilities
Activation Governance & Optimisation
- Govern day-to-day biddable campaign management across relevant platforms and help shape the rationale for their role within the media plan.
- Set and enforce in-flight optimisation standards across bid management, budget pacing, audience refinement, creative rotation, quality scores, and performance reporting.
- Lead the team’s response to algorithm changes, platform updates, and performance anomalies, ensuring rapid and evidence-based action.
- Manage AI-assisted bidding tools and automation frameworks, establishing strong governance and quality-control standards.
- Govern SEM activation, including scripting and automation, search impression share, quality scores, brand versus generic activity, and search intent architecture.
- Evaluate the appropriate use of emerging platform capabilities and automated solutions within campaign activation.
Full-Funnel Performance Management
- Manage performance activation across the full commercial funnel, from awareness and consideration through to conversion, onboarding, retention, and cross-sell.
- Govern app acquisition activity across channels including Apple Search Ads, Google UAC, and social-to-app conversion programs.
- Apply knowledge of app analytics to improve acquisition and conversion performance.
- Design data requirements and manage CRM-triggered performance activation, including lifecycle sequences, cross-sell, re-engagement, and onboarding programs.
- Govern offline-to-online performance measurement, including the contribution of TV, out-of-home, and brand activity to web traffic and conversions.
Measurement & Reporting Quality
- Govern performance measurement frameworks, including tracking infrastructure quality, attribution integrity, and reporting accuracy.
- Oversee pixels, CAPI, GA4, app measurement SDKs, tag management, and UTM hygiene across biddable channels.
- Lead weekly, monthly, and quarterly performance reporting, translating results into clear, commercially relevant insights.
- Design and manage A/B testing, audience experiments, and lift studies alongside media platform partners and senior performance leadership.
Team Leadership
- Lead, manage, and develop Performance Managers and Performance Executives.
- Establish clear performance standards, KPIs, and development goals across the team.
- Build a culture of technical excellence, analytical precision, healthy challenge, and continuous improvement.
- Lead the transition toward AI-augmented activation workflows, supported by responsible tool governance and structured development.
- Manage workload, campaign scheduling, and resource allocation across active performance workstreams.
Strategic Responsibilities
- Identify performance-channel growth opportunities and develop recommendations for senior performance leadership.
- Contribute to the evolution of Accenture Song’s performance marketing methodology and activation playbooks.
- Participate in media platform beta programs and performance innovation testing.
- Identify opportunities to use technology and automation to improve activation quality and efficiency.
Client Engagement
- Lead performance-focused client engagements, including campaign debriefs, optimisation discussions, and regular performance reviews.
- Present performance results with commercial clarity, translating channel metrics into business-relevant language.
- Build trusted day-to-day relationships with client digital, acquisition, and CRM teams.
- Proactively identify insights and opportunities within campaign data and escalate broader strategic recommendations where appropriate.
Media, Data & Technology
- Manage the performance team’s technology stack and platform access governance.
- Partner with Media Technology & Data specialists on tracking implementation, tagging QA, and data-pipeline integrity.
- Ensure adherence to platform privacy policies, data handling standards, and client data governance requirements.
- Stay current with platform algorithm changes, new product releases, and emerging biddable capabilities.
Requirements
- 7-10 years of progressive performance marketing experience, including 2-3 years in senior biddable media leadership or Director-level roles.
- Demonstrated expertise across paid search, paid social, programmatic performance, and app acquisition.
- Strong experience in performance measurement, attribution, and tracking implementation.
- Experience managing and developing specialist performance marketing teams.
- Experience operating in high-investment, performance-driven environments with accountability for commercial acquisition and retention outcomes.
- Strong knowledge of performance platforms, measurement technology, and automation.
- The ability to translate complex performance data into clear commercial recommendations.
- Strong client and stakeholder management skills.
- A collaborative leadership style and commitment to continually improving team capability.
