Pharmacy Manager

Galena, IL | Full-Time | On-Site

Relocation Support Available. Galena is a truly special place to call home, and we want to help you get here. NuvemRx is proud to support the right candidate in making a smooth, exciting transition to this incredible community. Let’s talk about what that looks like for you.

About the Role

This is a rare opportunity to lead a brand-new NuvemRx pharmacy embedded within a community health center in Galena, IL, a charming, historic town in the heart of northwest Illinois. You won’t be stepping into a pre-built routine; you’ll be building something meaningful from the ground up.

As Pharmacist-in-Charge and Pharmacy Manager, you will serve as the clinical and operational leader of this site, partnering directly with health center providers, managing day-to-day pharmacy operations, and serving as a trusted member of the patient care team. You’ll have the autonomy to shape the patient experience and grow the pharmacy’s impact within the community. This role reports to NuvemRx Pharmacy leadership and works in close partnership with our health center client and its clinical staff.

Schedule: Monday–Friday, 9:00 AM–5:30 PM (closed for lunch 12:30–1:00 PM). No nights. No weekends. Closed most federal holidays. On-site parking available.

Responsibilities

Patient Care & Clinical Partnership

  • Serve as a clinical resource and trusted partner to health center providers, offering drug therapy consultation, medication education, and proactive patient outreach.

  • Participate in clinical team meetings, collaborate with interdisciplinary care teams, and contribute to population health initiatives at the health center.

  • Ensure full compliance with federal, state, and local regulations, including HIPAA, Fraud, Waste & Abuse, and applicable pharmacy practice standards.
  • Maintain compliance with health center facility policies and NuvemRx operational standards.
  • Oversee accurate dispensing, prescription verification, and documentation practices.

Team Leadership & Development

  • Hire, onboard, and manage pharmacy staff, including technicians, fostering a culture of care, accountability, and continuous learning.
  • Identify knowledge gaps and support staff development through coaching, education, and on-the-job training.
  • Set and model the standard for patient-first service and professional excellence.

Growth & Client Relationship Management

  • Build and maintain a strong partnership with the health center client, acting as the primary pharmacy liaison for clinical staff and administration.
  • Identify opportunities to expand pharmacy services, improve patient outcomes, and grow the pharmacy’s role within the health center.
  • Support NuvemRx’s broader mission by sharing insights, contributing to best practices, and collaborating with the broader pharmacy leadership team.

Requirements

Core Capabilities
