About the Position

Principal Data Engineer / Tech Lead (Data Platform)

We are seeking a Principal Data Engineer / Tech Lead to join our data platform team in Warszawa, Poland. This role is responsible for developing a modern cloud-based data platform.

Responsibilities

• Designing, developing, and maintaining a modern, scalable cloud-based data platform
• Co-creating the Data Platform architecture and long-term data environment development strategy
• Designing efficient data pipelines and solutions based on modern Lakehouse and Data Mesh architectures
• Building real-time data processing and CDC-based solutions
• Ensuring high-quality, secure, and governed data
• Mentoring and developing a 9-person Data Engineer team
• Collaborating with architects, Data Scientists, and business stakeholders in an international environment
• Participating in key technological decisions and implementing best practices in Data Engineering
• Optimizing the performance, cost, and reliability of the data platform

Requirements

• Minimum 7 years of experience in Data Engineering
• Minimum 3 years of experience in a Technical Lead or Data Engineering Team Manager role
• Experience in designing and developing large Data Platforms in a cloud environment
• Practical experience with at least one cloud solution: GCP (preferred), AWS, or Azure
• Very good knowledge of SQL and Python
• Experience with DBT or Dataform
• Practical knowledge of Data Warehouse and Lakehouse solutions
• Experience with BigQuery or Snowflake
• Experience in building pipelines based on Event Driven Architecture and CDC
• Knowledge of Infrastructure as Code (Terraform)
• Practical experience in implementing Data Governance and Security in cloud environments
• Experience in collaborating with business and managing stakeholder expectations in an international environment
• Experience with Data Governance and data security
• Very good knowledge of English (min. B2) – daily communication
• Willingness to travel for business to Barcelona once a month

Nice to Have

• Knowledge of Agile methodologies
• Knowledge of: Dataproc, Datastream
• Experience with Data Mesh and Kappa architectures

About the Company

Client: An international product company operating in the agribusiness and new technologies sector. The organization is developing a global data platform supporting key business processes such as supply chain management, market analysis, and risk management. We are currently looking for an experienced technical leader who will be responsible for developing a modern data platform operating in a cloud environment.

Office location: Warsaw

Work model: Hybrid (1-2 days per week in the office).

Team: 9 Data Engineers. The team is distributed, located in Poland (Warsaw) and Spain (Barcelona).

Task distribution: 50% Technical work (Hands-on Data Engineering), 25% People Management, 25% Process Management.
