Product Manager
Job description
About the Position
Product Manager
Location: Riga, Latvia
Type: Hybrid (remote possible), full-time
Start date: ASAP
Our client is an early-stage FinTech company building a new technology platform in the payments and card acquiring space. The company is currently at the beginning of its journey, which means there is no large organization, layers of processes, or a legacy way of doing things you simply have to follow. You will be working on green-field projects with no legacy baggage.
Now the company is looking for an experienced Senior Product Manager to help build, structure, and maintain a deep understanding of the acquiring and payments business. This is a business-focused analytical role, rather than a technical administration, programming, product management, or client integration position.
Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain a strong end-to-end understanding of the Company's acquiring and payments business, including relevant operational, financial, regulatory, and technology-related dependencies.
- Build and maintain the Company's institutional knowledge by consolidating information from internal stakeholders, external documentation, payment schemes, partners, and other relevant sources.
- Analyze complex or ambiguous business questions and structure them into clear problem statements, options, dependencies, risks, and trade-offs.
- Gather input from relevant stakeholders across the Company, identify conflicting assumptions or viewpoints, and facilitate discussions toward a clear conclusion.
- Prepare structured analysis, decision papers, and recommendations to support management and, where relevant, Board-level decision-making.
- Facilitate stakeholder interviews, working sessions, and workshops to clarify business processes, responsibilities, assumptions, and decision points.
- Conduct gap analysis when assessing new systems, processes, operating models, or significant business decisions, identifying missing requirements, risks, dependencies, and open questions.
- Translate complex business concepts and decisions into clear, practical documentation that can be understood and used by different audiences across the Company.
- Document key business processes, workflows, operating principles, decisions, and their rationale, and ensure that such documentation remains current as the business evolves.
- Act as a communication bridge between different functions of the Company, helping ensure that business, operational, financial, compliance, and technology stakeholders share a consistent understanding of key topics.
- Support the organization in reducing dependency on knowledge held by individual employees by ensuring important business knowledge is captured, structured, and accessible.
Requirements
Required:
- Relevant experience in a Product Manager, Business Analyst, Systems Analyst or similar role, preferably within financial services, payments, or another complex regulated environment.
- Strong analytical and structured thinking, with the ability to break down complex or poorly defined questions into clear components.
- Ability to independently investigate a topic, gather relevant information, challenge assumptions, and bring the analysis to a concrete conclusion or recommendation.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to explain complex topics clearly and concisely to different audiences.
- Strong stakeholder management and facilitation skills, including confidence working with senior stakeholders and running interviews, discussions, and workshops.
- Strong written communication and documentation skills, with the ability to consolidate complex and sometimes conflicting information into clear and usable outputs.
- High level of independence and ownership. You should be comfortable working in an environment where not every task comes with predefined requirements or a detailed process.
- Strong understanding of financial processes and terminology.
- Fluent English and Russian
Preferred:
- Hands-on experience within card acquiring, payments, banking, EMI, PSP, or related financial services businesses.
- Understanding of the card transaction lifecycle, including areas such as authorization, clearing, settlement, reconciliation, and payment scheme operations.
- Experience analyzing business or operating model decisions and presenting options, risks, and trade-offs to senior management.
- Experience conducting gap analysis for new systems, processes, or significant business changes.
- Experience working in an early-stage, fast-growing, or highly cross-functional organization.
We Offer
- Hybrid working arrangement, if in Riga, Latvia (the company's headquarters) or Remote
- Health insurance provided after successful completion of the probationary period
- Company laptop and all necessary work equipment
- One additional paid birthday leave day per year, to be used during the employee's birthday month
