About the Company
smartsteuer.de is known for its simple and innovative online tax filing. We are a dynamic team in Hannover that values clarity, user-friendliness, and a good working atmosphere.
We are looking for a QA Engineer / Software Tester (d/m/w) to join our team as soon as possible on a full-time basis.
What we offer:
- Flexible choice of workplace: You can work daily in the office in Hannover, but you also have the option to work flexibly from home
- Office atmosphere: For the team spirit, it is desirable that you are present in our modern office in Hannover once a week (if you mainly work remotely otherwise)
- Room for ideas: Short decision-making processes and the opportunity to contribute your own ideas
Job Description
At our company, it's not about running through predefined test cases all day. You will take professional responsibility for testing for our team and ensure that we find errors ourselves - before our customers do.
- You will develop and be responsible for our test strategy for new features, changes, and regression tests
- You will decide independently what, how, and to what depth should be tested - manually, exploratively, or automated
- You will analyze risks and relationships in our complex software and derive meaningful test scenarios and test priorities from them
- For larger tests, you will plan and coordinate the process: You will estimate the necessary testing effort, structure test areas, create test scripts, and involve other colleagues from the team as needed
- You will ensure that tests are divided sensibly, support colleagues involved in technical questions, and subsequently compile the results
- You will document test results, identify gaps in test coverage, and make risks transparent
- You will further develop our test automation and write automated tests yourself, for example, with Cypress
- You will consciously decide which tests are suitable for automation and which are not, and develop a sustainable regression test suite together with us
You will work closely with developers and other colleagues in the smartsteuer team and bring quality into the development process early on.
Requirements
- You have several years of practical experience in software testing and are familiar with both manual and automated testing methods
- You have experience with test automation and can develop automated tests yourself. Experience with Cypress is ideal; comparable knowledge in other test automation frameworks is also welcome
- You can familiarize yourself with extensive and technically complex software systems, understand dependencies, and keep track of many different functions and scenarios
- You can derive from requirements and technical changes which tests are necessary and where particular risks lie
- You work in a structured and independent manner and want to take responsibility for your area instead of just completing predefined tasks
- You can not only conduct tests but also plan, structure, document, and evaluate their results
- You communicate confidently with developers and can clearly convey to other colleagues what and with which focus should be tested
- You are curious about new tools and methods and want to actively develop our QA processes
- Fluent German skills at least at C1 level in speech and writing are required
What is important to us
You do not need to hold a formal test management or leadership role today. What is important to us is that you already have solid experience in software testing, can grasp complex relationships, and are eager to take on more responsibility for quality, test planning, and test coordination in the future.
If you are currently working as an experienced software tester or QA engineer and want to take the next step towards more professional responsibility, we look forward to your application.
