R&D Engineering, Sr Staff Engineer

About the Position

Synopsys software engineers are key enablers in the world of Electronic Design Automation (EDA), developing and maintaining software used in chip design, verification, and manufacturing. They work on assignments like designing, developing, and troubleshooting software, leveraging the state-of-the-art technologies like AI/ML, GenAI, and Cloud. Their critical contributions enable worldwide EDA designers to extend the frontiers of semiconductors and chip development.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, deploy, and maintain enterprise web applications and services.
• Work across the full technology stack, including front-end, back-end, database, and cloud components.
• Design and implement solutions using the PANN technology stack and associated development frameworks.
• Collaborate with cybersecurity, engineering, product, and business teams to define and deliver high-value solutions.
• Build intuitive and effective user experiences that simplify complex workflows.
• Design and optimize relational and non-relational database solutions.
• Develop AI-enabled capabilities that support automation, data analysis, content generation, and knowledge extraction.
• Create integrations between business systems, knowledge repositories, and AI services.
• Evaluate emerging technologies and recommend practical solutions that improve scalability, reliability, and user productivity.
• Support operational excellence through monitoring, maintenance, performance optimization, and continuous improvement.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Systems, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
• Typically 6 or more years developing enterprise web applications. Stronger evidence of full-stack delivery and production ownership can offset fewer years.
• Strong experience with the PANN technology stack (PostgreSQL, Angular, NestJS, Node.js) and modern web development frameworks.
• Experience designing and developing microservices architectures.
• Experience using Prisma for data modeling, database access, and schema migrations.
• Strong knowledge of JavaScript, TypeScript, HTML, CSS, REST APIs, and modern application architectures.
• Experience designing, developing, and optimizing relational and non-relational databases and administering PostgreSQL.
• Experience containerizing applications and services with Docker or Kubernetes, and deploying, configuring, and managing web servers, load balancers, and reverse proxies such as Nginx and Apache.
• Experience with cloud-based application development and deployment.
• Experience building and maintaining continuous integration, continuous delivery, and deployment pipelines.
• Practical experience with AI technologies, including large language models, prompt engineering, retrieval-augmented generation (RAG), knowledge extraction, and automation workflows.
• Strong understanding of software development lifecycle practices, testing methodologies, and secure coding principles.
• Experience integrating multiple systems through APIs and data services.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
