Job description
About the Position
We are looking for an experienced SAP Test Manager - S/4HANA Upgrade (FI-CO, MM/SD) to join our team.
Role purpose:
Own and lead the testing of core Finance and Logistics processes following the upgrade to SAP S/4HANA. The role covers test strategy and planning, regression and integration test scope definition, coordination of SIT and UAT with business users, and defect governance through to sign-off for FI-CO and MM/SD.
Responsibilities
- Lead the testing workstream for the S/4HANA upgrade across FI-CO and MM/SD, acting as the single point of accountability for test scope, progress, and quality.
- Define and implement the test strategy, test plans, and entry/exit criteria, aligned to project scope, business risk, and the upgrade cut-over plan.
- Design, review, and maintain manual (and, where automation exists, automated) test scenarios covering core business processes and cross-module integrations.
- Determine and maintain regression scope for the upgrade, ensuring critical financial and logistics processes are covered, and business-critical risk areas are prioritized.
- Plan and coordinate test cycles - functional, integration, regression, SIT, and UAT support - including scheduling, test data readiness, environment readiness, and business user onboarding.
- Manage defects throughout the lifecycle, ensuring timely triage, resolution, and retesting with functional consultants and developers, and escalating blockers to project management with proposed mitigations.
- Report progress, coverage, defect trends, and quality risks to project management and stakeholders on an agreed cadence.
- Collaborate closely with SAP functional consultants, developers, business process owners, and other QA team members; guide and support business users through UAT.
- Where Tosca or other automation assets are in place, ensure automation best practices, reusability, and maintainability of the test asset base.
- Contribute to the continuous improvement of QA processes, tools, and testing standards.
Requirements
- 5+ years' experience in testing SAP systems (SAP ECC and/or SAP S/4HANA), including experience in a test lead or test management capacity.
- Hands-on S/4HANA testing experience is essential - practical involvement in at least one S/4HANA implementation, conversion, or upgrade, including post-upgrade regression and delta/impact testing across Fiori applications and classic SAP GUI transactions.
- Strong functional understanding of FI-CO (GL, AP, AR, Asset Accounting, Cost Center / Profitability Accounting) and MM/SD (procure-to-pay and order-to-cash), together with the integration points between them (MM–FI, SD–FI/CO, period-end and record-to-report dependencies).
- Proven experience defining test strategies, test plans and test cases, sizing and prioritizing regression scope, and running structured test cycles (functional, regression, integration, UAT support).
- Experience managing defects end-to-end: triage, prioritization, root-cause coordination with functional and development teams, retesting and closure, with clear status reporting to project management.
- Practical experience with test management tooling - Jira / Xray, SAP Solution Manager, or SAP Cloud ALM.
- Ability to work independently, drive testing discipline across cross-functional teams, and engage business users directly on test design, execution support, and sign-off.
- Strong analytical, communication, and documentation skills.
Nice to Have
- Hands-on experience with Tricentis Tosca for SAP test automation - a significant advantage, particularly where used to build reusable regression suites across multiple projects.
- Experience with other SAP-relevant automation frameworks (e.g., Worksoft, Qmate, Selenium) or with test data management for S/4HANA.
- Exposure to upgrade or conversion programs with parallel workstreams and multiple system landscapes.
