Senior Accountant / Financial Controller

About the Position

Join an international group of companies and take ownership of finance across multiple European entities.

We are looking for a hands-on Senior Accountant / Financial Controller who will become the internal owner of accounting and financial operations for a small international group consisting of legal entities in Spain, Estonia, and Germany.

This is not a coordinator role. We're looking for someone who enjoys being deeply involved in the business, maintaining accurate financial records, ensuring compliance, and providing management with reliable financial information.

You'll work closely with company leadership while coordinating with external accountants, tax advisors, and local consultants when jurisdiction-specific expertise is required.

Responsibilities

Accounting & Financial Operations

• Manage day-to-day bookkeeping across the group companies.
• Collect, verify, and maintain accounting documentation.
• Record invoices, expenses, payments, and bank transactions.
• Issue customer invoices and monitor collections.
• Manage Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable.
• Perform bank reconciliations and account reconciliations.
• Independently complete monthly financial close.

Financial Reporting

• Prepare and maintain monthly management P&L reports for each entity and the consolidated group.
• Monitor cash flow, liquidity, and upcoming financial obligations.
• Maintain accurate financial records and management reporting.
• Prepare monthly financial reports for the CEO, highlighting tax matters, financial risks, upcoming deadlines, potential penalties, and key financial insights.

Tax & Compliance

• Maintain the tax and corporate compliance calendar across Spain, Estonia, and Germany.
• Prepare accounting data for tax returns, annual financial statements, and payroll processing.
• Monitor VAT/IVA compliance and intra-EU transactions.
• Maintain and reconcile intercompany transactions.
• Coordinate external accounting firms, tax advisors, payroll providers, and auditors while ensuring deadlines and deliverables are met.
• Stay informed about relevant accounting and tax regulations across all three jurisdictions.

Process Improvement

• Continuously improve accounting workflows, reporting processes, and document management.
• Recommend and implement practical improvements within the finance function.

Requirements

Must Have

• Proven experience independently managing company accounting.
• Strong understanding of double-entry bookkeeping.
• Experience completing monthly financial close.
• Experience preparing management reporting and P&L statements.
• Strong knowledge of Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, reconciliations, and banking operations.
• Good understanding of VAT/IVA and intra-EU transactions.
• Fluent Ukrainian (one of the company's primary internal working languages).
• Working proficiency in English.
• Advanced Excel or Google Sheets skills.
• Willingness to work daily with Holded (previous experience is a plus; training will be provided if needed).
• Legal right to work in Spain.
• Availability to work full-time from the office in Torrent (Valencia).

Nice to Have

• Spanish language skills sufficient for working with documentation, advisors, and government authorities.
• Previous accounting experience in Spain.
• Experience managing multiple legal entities simultaneously.
• Experience working with Estonian OÜ or German UG companies.
• Experience with intercompany accounting.
• Knowledge of Spanish GAAP, German GAAP, or Estonian accounting standards.
• Experience in an international startup or small group of companies.
• Knowledge of German or Russian.
