Job description

About the Position

Ciklum is looking for a Senior Business Analyst to join our team full-time in Poland. We are a custom product engineering company that supports both multinational organizations and scaling startups to solve their most complex business challenges. With a global team of over 4,000 highly skilled developers, consultants, analysts, and product owners, we engineer technology that redefines industries and shapes the way people live.

As a Senior Business Analyst, you will become a part of a cross-functional development team engineering experiences of tomorrow. Together, we will work on an initiative aimed at modernizing a nationwide government platform through comprehensive digital transformation. By leveraging advanced web portals, mobile applications, CRM systems, predictive analytics, and AI, we seek to enhance and streamline core services for government officials, the legal ecosystem, and citizens. Our primary focus is ensuring seamless integration, scalability, and adherence to rigorous performance and security standards.

Responsibilities

  • System & Integration Analysis: Elicit, define, and document technical requirements for distributed systems, including REST APIs, API contracts, request/response models, error handling, and service dependencies.
  • Data Modeling & Schemas: Analyze and document data modeling requirements, data schemas, field-level specs (data types, constraints, required/optional fields), and ensure versioning and backwards compatibility across integrations.
  • Technical Flow Design: Document both synchronous (request/response) and asynchronous (messaging/event-driven) processing flows.
  • Architecture & Scope Governance: Analyze capability gaps within the Customer’s organization and propose strategic, scalable solution options considering relational and NoSQL storage technologies.
  • Stakeholder & Engineering Collaboration: Bridge the gap between non-technical business stakeholders and engineering teams by translating business needs into detailed technical user stories with edge cases and acceptance criteria.
  • Requirements Lifecycle Management: Establish and maintain robust requirements lifecycle processes from inception to delivery, including non-functional requirements (NFRs), external interfaces, and technical constraints.
  • Meeting & Workshop Facilitation: Facilitate high-stakes technical refinement sessions, workshops, and consensus-building meetings across engineering and business units.
  • Mentorship & Best Practices: Mentor other analysts, establish standard technical BA practices across streams, and contribute to the corporate knowledge base.
  • Acceptance & Validation: Oversee technical implementation, validate API/system behavior, and lead internal and external user acceptance testing (UAT).

Requirements

  • APIs & Distributed Systems: Strong technical understanding of APIs and distributed architecture, with hands-on experience defining REST APIs, API contracts, request/response payloads, HTTP status code error handling, and service dependencies.
  • Data Modeling & Schemas: Good understanding of data modeling concepts and data schemas, including defining data types, validation rules, required vs. optional fields, system constraints, as well as API/schema versioning and backwards compatibility.
  • Databases & Storage: Working knowledge of database architectures and storage technologies, including hands-on familiarity with relational (SQL) and NoSQL databases.
  • Processing Models: Clear understanding of synchronous vs. asynchronous processing patterns (e.g., standard request/response vs. messaging/event-driven flows like Kafka/RabbitMQ).
  • Technical Modeling: Solid experience in UML (Sequence Diagrams, System Context Diagrams) and BPMN process modeling.
  • Domain & Experience: 3+ years of IT industry experience as a Business Analyst, including extensive collaboration with international clients and software architecture teams from Discovery through Production.
  • Agile & Lifecycle Management: Deep understanding of the SDLC and proven experience as an Agile practitioner managing backlog refinement, traceability, and change control.
  • Communication Excellence: Advanced English verbal and written communication skills, with a proven ability to translate complex technical architectures into simple terms for stakeholders and executive management.
  • Tool Proficiency: Mastery of Jira and Confluence for writing technical user stories, alongside API/data tools (e.g., Postman, Swagger/OpenAPI, or database clients).
  • Proactive Problem Solving: Eager to suggest technical alternatives, evaluate system trade-offs, and take complete ownership of the technical BA scope during Discovery or Pre-sales phases.
  • Mentorship & Accountability: Capable of assessing deliverables from junior colleagues, fostering growth, and operating with a high degree of personal accountability.

Nice to Have

  • Experience in Pre-sales and technical Discovery phases.
  • Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP).
  • Understanding of DevOps, CI/CD pipelines, and security protocols (OAuth2, SAML).

We Offer

  • Strong community: Work alongside top professionals in a friendly, open-door environment.
  • Growth focus: Take on large-scale projects with a global impact and expand your expertise.
  • Tailored learning: Boost your skills with internal events (meetups, conferences, workshops), Udemy access, language courses, and company-paid certifications.
  • Endless opportunities: Explore diverse domains through internal mobility, finding the best fit to gain hands-on experience with cutting-edge technologies.
  • Flexibility: Enjoy flexibility – full remote working possibilities.
  • Care: We've got you covered with a company-paid premium medical package through Luxmed.
  • Benefits: Access the MyBenefit cafeteria platform, allowing you to choose perks that best suit your lifestyle and needs.
