Job description
About the Position
We are seeking a Senior Cloud Native Developer with DynamoDB to join our team building SIS Core, an internally developed, event-driven platform powered by AWS serverless technologies. In this role, you will work within an established codebase and set of engineering conventions, contributing to architecture, infrastructure, and end-to-end testing strategy for a complex distributed system.
Responsibilities
- Design, build, and maintain event-driven services running on AWS serverless infrastructure
- Contribute to architectural decisions and document design choices
- Develop and maintain infrastructure using Infrastructure as Code
- Ensure reliability, scalability, and operational excellence across services
- Write and maintain automated end-to-end tests
- Collaborate with other engineers to evolve platform capabilities and engineering standards
- Work independently with minimal supervision to make sound technical decisions and justify trade-offs
- Navigate and contribute to complex distributed systems
- Influence architectural direction, not just implement requirements
Requirements
- 6+ years of relevant professional experience in software engineering
- Solid understanding of AWS architecture, including VPCs, networking fundamentals, and multi-account environments
- Knowledge of security and operational best practices and how AWS services integrate within larger systems
- Hands-on experience with AWS Lambda, event-driven application design, and production operation of serverless workloads
- Experience designing and operating systems using EventBridge, SQS, and SNS
- Understanding of asynchronous communication patterns and distributed system design principles
- Experience with AWS CDK, ideally in TypeScript
- Deep operational and architectural expertise in DynamoDB, including single-table design, access-pattern-driven modelling, GSIs, LSIs, capacity planning and capacity modes, Streams, TTL, and PITR
- Strong understanding of ACID vs. BASE trade-offs, eventual consistency, and consistency challenges in distributed systems, including implications for DynamoDB and event-driven architectures
- Experience designing and operating event-driven microservice architectures, including service boundaries, event contracts, and failure handling
- Ability to evaluate multiple design approaches, make informed architectural decisions, and clearly communicate and document trade-offs
- Experience with automated testing strategies, including end-to-end testing, and data modeling and validation tools such as JSON Schema and Pydantic
- English proficiency at B2 level or higher
Nice to Have
- Familiarity with BDD frameworks such as Behave
- Knowledge of Python
- Background in OpenSearch development and operational experience
- Skills in application profiling and memory optimization
- Experience monitoring and operating high-volume, mission-critical systems
- Expertise in API design and implementation, including GraphQL
We Offer
- Opportunity to work remotely from Poland
- Be part of a dynamic team building an event-driven platform
- Contribute to a complex distributed system architecture
- Collaborate with experienced engineers and influence architectural direction
