About the Role

Depending on the needs of the customer project, you will take on multiple roles:

• As a technical expert/architect for MLOps, you will be the primary contact for the technical design and implementation of MLOps infrastructures and automation solutions.
• As an implementer/engineer, you will build platforms and pipelines, configure tools, and write the necessary code (IaC, CI/CD configurations, automation scripts).
• As an enabler/supporter, you will help Data Science teams and other stakeholders at our customers to effectively use MLOps platforms and processes and successfully bring their machine learning models into production.
• At the interface between Data Science, software development (DevOps), IT operations, and possibly security, you will coordinate technical requirements to integrate solutions.

Responsibilities

• You keep track of current technologies and evaluate new developments in the field of MLOps and DevOps.
• You design, develop, and maintain MLOps platforms – including the design of the technical infrastructure and toolchains (e.g., based on Kubeflow and Kubernetes) – to support and automate the entire machine learning lifecycle.
• You assist in the scalable deployment of machine learning models and automate their workflows through CI/CD pipelines (e.g., with GitLab CI/CD or GitHub Actions) – including troubleshooting and technical support.
• You integrate and operate central MLOps tools such as MLflow for experiment tracking, model registry, and deployment – and integrate them seamlessly into CI/CD processes.
• You implement GitOps practices (e.g., with Argo CD) for the automated delivery of infrastructure and application components.
• You build and further develop monitoring and logging solutions for the supervision of the platform, pipeline executions, and the behavior of productive machine learning models.
• You actively shape DevSecOps processes – including container scanning, secret management, and access controls – and work closely with our security teams to integrate security seamlessly into automated processes.

Requirements

• You have successfully completed your master's degree or doctorate in one of the STEM subjects.
• You have at least 4 years of relevant professional experience, ideally as a (Senior) Consultant at an IT consultancy.
• You are very proficient in Python and regularly use it for automation and the integration of machine learning components.
• You are comfortable with Bash or Shell scripting, especially in the context of CI/CD pipelines and infrastructure tasks.
• Ideally, you have initial experience with Ruby, Go, or Rust – this is a plus but not mandatory.
• You have a deep understanding of containerization with Docker and can set up and operate complex container environments independently.
• You are very familiar with Kubernetes – including administration, network architectures, and security policies.
• You have experience with MLOps platforms such as Kubeflow and MLflow. If you are also familiar with SageMaker, Azure ML, or similar solutions, that is an advantage.
• You are familiar with CI/CD tools such as GitLab CI/CD, GitHub Actions, or Jenkins and know how to implement automated deployments with them.
• You have a basic understanding of GitOps approaches and are familiar with tools like Argo CD or FluxCD.
• You routinely work with Infrastructure as Code, especially with Terraform and Ansible. Helm charts for Kubernetes deployments are also part of your repertoire.
• You have solid experience with at least one major cloud platform – e.g., AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud (GCP) – and know their Kubernetes offerings (EKS, AKS, GKE) as well as relevant ML and DevOps services.
• You set up and actively use monitoring and logging solutions such as Prometheus, Grafana, or the ELK stack (or alternatives) for system monitoring and error analysis.
• You communicate convincingly and efficiently in German and English.
• You enjoy working in a flexible mix of home office, at our location in Bonn, and on-site at customer locations.
