Senior Data Engineer

About the Position

We are currently seeking a Senior Data Engineer to join a large financial services firm based in Galway, Ireland. The role is ideal for someone with an enterprise development background, strong technology, coding, and data skills, looking to operate in a less constrained environment as part of an accelerated development team.

Responsibilities

• Design, optimize, and deploy AI/ML workflows in production environments to drive business value and innovation.
• Process and generate analytics from structured and unstructured datasets with the ability of parallel processing potentially in the cloud.
• Get exposure to prompt engineering for Large Language Models (LLMs) such as OpenAI’s GPT-4 (ChatGPT), Google Gemini, and Anthropic Claude.
• Develop custom data pipelines to extract, map, transform, and load data in various data stores like Oracle, Snowflake, S3, PL/SQL, and shared drives.
• Migrate applications to AWS (Cloud).

Requirements

• Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in a technology-related field (e.g., Engineering, Computer Science, etc.).
• Strong experience in Python, Java, or C#.
• Experience with RDBMS and AWS.
• Knowledge of object-oriented programming principles and data structures.
• Familiarity with cloud computing concepts (AWS) and CI/CD tools.
• 6+ years of enterprise development experience.
• Ability to balance multiple tasks concurrently.
• Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills with on-call responsibilities.

Nice to Have

• Experience with Large Language Models (LLMs) and AI/ML workflows.
• Familiarity with prompt engineering.
• Quantitative concepts knowledge.
