About the Position

We're looking for a Senior Data Modeler to join our team in Zurich, Switzerland, in a hybrid working mode. In this role, you will leverage your expertise in data modeling, data architecture, and banking domain knowledge to design, implement, and manage logical and physical data models that align with enterprise goals and regulatory requirements. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure data quality, consistency, and optimal performance while supporting the organization in making data-driven business decisions.

Responsibilities

  • Design and develop logical and physical data models that meet business and technology requirements while ensuring data integrity and quality
  • Work closely with stakeholders, including business analysts, data architects, and developers, to gather and translate data requirements into actionable solutions
  • Implement industry-standard data modeling methodologies and best practices to optimize data storage and minimize redundancy
  • Collaborate with the development team to design data flows, support database architecture design, and ensure alignment with project objectives
  • Analyze, reverse-engineer, and refine existing data models to identify discrepancies, improve performance, and enhance scalability
  • Define and implement data governance frameworks and ensure alignment with enterprise data management standards
  • Support the integration of new data sources and ensure compatibility with existing systems in a secure and compliant manner
  • Provide technical expertise and guidance on data modeling best practices, tools, processes, and principles across the organization

Requirements

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in data modeling, including expertise in physical and relational database design
  • Strong background in the banking or financial services industry with experience handling sensitive and regulated data
  • Proficiency in data modeling tools such as Alteryx, Erwin, Dataiku, Tableau Prep, Hackolade, or equivalents
  • Solid understanding of metadata management tools like Collibra and their implementation in large-scale data systems
  • Advanced SQL skills with the ability to design and optimize complex queries in both traditional and distributed database environments
  • Familiarity with data governance practices, data quality frameworks, and data classification standards
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills with fluency in English; knowledge of German is a plus
