Current stack: AWS RDS (PostgreSQL, MySQL), AWS RedShift, Clickhouse, Terraform, Ansible.
Locations
- Warsaw, Mazowieckie, Poland
- Limassol, Cyprus
- Sofia City, Bulgaria

Responsibilities
- Own the provisioning, configuration, and ongoing maintenance of PostgreSQL and MySQL instances across AWS RDS and on-premises, ensuring they meet uptime and performance targets.
- Design and implement automated failover solutions, load balancing configurations, and DNS management strategies to keep databases accessible under failure conditions.
- Write and maintain Terraform code to provision and manage database infrastructure - clusters, instances, storage, parameter groups, security groups - with consistency across environments.
- Build and manage Ansible playbooks and roles for database deployments, configuration changes, and patching cycles.
- Monitor, alert, and tune - using Prometheus and Grafana - to catch performance degradation before it becomes an incident.
- Plan and execute database upgrades and migrations, including cross-version and cross-engine work (PostgreSQL, MySQL, Redshift, ClickHouse, DynamoDB), with minimal impact to production.
- Manage backup, restore, and recovery processes; test them regularly so they work when it matters.
- Harden database security through access controls, encryption at rest and in transit, and periodic audits.
- Maintain and improve underlying Linux systems hosting the databases, including security hardening and performance tuning.
- Document configurations, runbooks, and disaster recovery plans; participate in on-call rotation.
Requirements
- 5+ years of proven experience as a Database Administrator or Database Engineer, with hands-on depth in PostgreSQL and MySQL in production environments.
- Solid Terraform experience - you've written and maintained IaC.
- Working knowledge of Ansible for configuration management and deployment automation.
- Strong Linux system administration skills, including performance tuning and troubleshooting.
- Experience designing and operating high-availability solutions - failover, replication, load balancing, DNS management.
- Familiarity with Prometheus and Grafana or comparable monitoring tools.
- Scripting ability in Bash and/or Python for automation and operational tasks.
- Understanding of CI/CD pipelines and how database changes fit into a deployment workflow.
- Comfort working in a regulated financial services environment, where access control, encryption, and audit trails are non-negotiable.
Nice to Have
- Production experience with ClickHouse, Redshift, MongoDB or Microsoft SQL Server.
- Familiarity with Docker and Kubernetes in the context of database workloads.
- Prior experience with financial services audit requirements or other regulated environments.
- AWS certification (Database Specialty, Solutions Architect, or similar).
