Senior DevOps Engineer (Java)

About the Position

We are seeking a Senior DevOps Engineer (Java) to join our team in Leeds, United Kingdom. This role is pivotal in implementing and supporting improvements, enhancing software quality, and accelerating delivery times. You will work in a multi-disciplinary team with Development, QA, IT Operations, InfoSec, and UCD, all striving to apply best practice in DevOps.

Responsibilities

• Extensive experience of DevOps tooling, containers, and containerization
• Communication: Ability to speak with stakeholders and translate business requirements into technical implementation
• Facilitate information/business knowledge: Act as a business Subject Matter Expert (SME) and understand business needs to support an efficient DevOps team
• Stakeholder Management: Negotiate and influence stakeholders to ensure the service runs effectively and efforts are correctly placed

Requirements

• 5+ years working as a DevOps Engineer
• Strong knowledge of AWS, CI/CD pipeline creation and maintenance
• Experience using Terraform (infrastructure as code), Kubernetes, and Helm
• Experience in Java
• Experienced with multiple ecosystem databases, architecture, and integration
• Experience with monitoring tools to ensure system reliability and performance
• Database Management: Experience with schema change management (e.g., Liquibase)
• Knowledge of GitOps principles
• Experience working within the public sector/central government is beneficial
