Senior Forward Deployed Platform Engineer (m/w/d)

Recare Deutschland GmbH, a leading German HealthTech company, is reshaping discharge management with technology-driven, patient-centered solutions. We are seeking a Senior Forward Deployed Platform Engineer to ensure our AI infrastructure runs reliably and scales predictably in a highly regulated healthcare environment.

Responsibilities

• Ensure the reliability and performance of our AI portfolio.
• Monitor and manage capacity needs, scaling initiatives, and system stability.
• Continuously deliver SageMaker models following AWS best practices.
• Assist AI engineers with productionalizing AI workloads from code to container build and rollouts.
• Collaborate directly with other teams and own technical decisions.

Requirements

• AWS: Experience with CloudFormation, IAM, ECR, SageMaker, Bedrock, S3, SQS, DynamoDB, RDS, KMS.
• Kubernetes: Experience with EKS in production (kustomize, HPA, and KEDA-based autoscaling).
• SageMaker: Experience deploying models, setting up custom inference containers, and endpoints.
• Observability & LLMOps: Familiarity with best practices and solutions (Datadog, Langfuse, LLM/GenAI tracing, OTel, CloudWatch).
• Python: Proficiency with FastAPI and async task management.
• ML/LLM GPU inference: Ability to set up on EKS (GPU-backed instances, Nvidia driver/plugin).
• Troubleshooting: RCA and resolving problems with a cool head.
• Communication: Preference for writing clear, concise documentation and asynchronous communications.
• Cross-functional role: Ability to explain complex concepts to non-domain experts and extract information through well-formed questions.

Nice to Have

• Healthcare or regulated-domain experience (e.g., ISO 27001, C5).
• Self-hosting/home lab.
• Nvidia Triton/vLLM or similar.
• MLflow, Kubeflow, ClearML, DVC, Vertex AI.
• Slack and GitHub automations (bots, workflows, apps, etc.).
