About the Position
We’re looking for a Senior Java Backend Engineer to build scalable, secure, cloud-native payment solutions used by merchants across North America. You’ll design and develop high-performance APIs, work on microservices architecture, and collaborate with cross-functional Agile teams.
Location: Ukraine
Working Schedule: 12.30-21.00 Kyiv time
Employment Type: Remote, full-time
Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and maintain high-quality Java applications and microservices.
- Build and enhance secure, scalable REST APIs.
- Write clean, maintainable, and well-tested code.
- Troubleshoot and resolve production and development issues.
- Participate in architecture discussions, code reviews, sprint planning, and Agile ceremonies.
- Collaborate with Product, QA, and DevOps teams.
- Optimize application performance, reliability, and security.
- Mentor junior engineers and share technical knowledge.
Requirements
- Location: Ukraine
- 7+ years of Java backend development experience.
- Strong experience with Java 17/21 and Spring Boot.
- Hands-on experience with AWS (EKS, API Gateway, VPC, ALB/NLB, SNS, WAF).
- Experience building cloud-native microservices.
- 4+ years designing and delivering high-throughput APIs.
- Strong knowledge of REST, OpenAPI 3.x, API design, and security best practices.
- Experience with PostgreSQL/MySQL, MongoDB, and Redis.
- Familiarity with React and TypeScript is an advantage.
- Experience with CI/CD, Docker, Kubernetes, Infrastructure as Code, and GitOps.
- Agile development experience with strong communication skills.
- Language: English: Upper-Intermediate.
