Senior Java Developer

About the Position

We are seeking a Senior Java Developer with 8+ years of experience to join a leading financial institution in New York, focusing on backend development. This is a hands-on role supporting highly visible applications across Fixed Income, Trading, Risk, and other business areas.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain enterprise applications using Java, Spring, and Spring Boot.
• Contribute across the full SDLC, including development, testing, code reviews, and production releases.
• Participate in Agile ceremonies and collaborate with local and offshore teams.
• Take ownership of application delivery, stability, and technical improvements.
• Perform system design, technical analysis, and proof of concepts.
• Support application monitoring, upgrades, and production issues.
• Mentor junior developers when needed.

Requirements

• 8+ years of hands-on Java development experience.
• 5+ years of Spring / Spring Boot experience.
• Strong knowledge of Core Java, concurrency, collections, and exception handling.
• Experience with REST APIs and distributed applications.
• Good SQL knowledge.
• Experience with Git, Maven, and CI/CD.
• Messaging experience such as ActiveMQ, Kafka, or similar.
• Strong communication skills and proactive mindset.
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Finance, or Quantitative Finance.

Nice to Have

• Angular experience.
• Azure and OpenShift/container experience.
• Financial Markets or Fixed Income knowledge.
