Senior Principal Engineer, Rovo Experiences & Growth

About the Position

We are seeking a Senior Principal Engineer for Rovo Experiences & Growth to lead technical strategy and architecture across our customer-facing AI experiences. This role will drive the development of scalable, reliable, and secure AI experiences across various platforms.

Responsibilities

• Lead technical strategy and architecture across Rovo Chat, Rovo Search, Growth, and Rovo Apps & Clients.
• Shape the convergence of Search and Chat, creating shared patterns and capabilities.
• Drive the development of rich, reusable experience foundations across Atlassian products and third-party tools.
• Partner with product, design, data science, machine learning, and engineering leaders to define and deliver a roadmap of high-impact Rovo experiences.
• Enable sustainable growth by creating technical foundations for rapid experimentation, contextual activation, personalization, measurement, and continuous improvement.
• Lead complex, cross-organizational initiatives, managing technical negotiations and dependencies.
• Raise the bar for quality, performance, trust, and operational excellence across Rovo’s customer-facing experiences.
• Standardize and mechanize how AI experiences are developed and deployed.
• Mentor senior engineers, influence engineering culture, and champion technical excellence, inclusive collaboration, and continuous learning.

Requirements

• 15+ years of experience in software engineering, with deep expertise in platform and product engineering at scale.
• Exceptional communication and collaboration skills; able to influence and partner across teams.
• Deep product engineering background, ideally with experience in platform environments at scale.
• Full stack experience preferred, or strong back-end skills with front-end capability.
• Proven ability to architect, build, and operate large-scale, distributed systems and user-facing applications.
• Strong product mindset and UX sensibility.
• Experience leading multi-year, cross-org technical initiatives that drive business outcomes.
• Passion for innovation, continuous improvement, and fostering an inclusive, high-performing engineering environment.
