About the Position

Strategic Finance Manager - Product

San Mateo, CA (Hybrid)

At Eve, we are redefining legal technology for plaintiff law firms, and we're building the team that will take us there. We help firms handle more cases, recover more for clients, and grow with AI that works across every stage of a case, from intake through resolution. The next generation of great plaintiff firms will be AI-Native, and Eve is how they get there. But what makes Eve different isn't just the product. It's how we build it. If you're someone who takes ownership, stays curious, and wants to build AI that's already changing how law is practiced, this is where you belong.

Responsibilities

As our Strategic Finance & Analytics Manager, you will be the bridge between our technical roadmap and our financial bottom line, while building the analytics backbone that powers smarter decisions across Finance. This role will be primarily focused on partnering with the R&D org, but will also provide coverage for data analytics to support the broader Finance team. Critically, you will own the design and delivery of dashboards and reporting tools that give Finance leadership and cross-functional partners real-time access to cost, margin, and forecasting data.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Model, track, and allocate LLM API and Compute costs (OpenAI, Anthropic, etc.) by product feature, customer segment, and use case
  • Infrastructure Cost Management
    • Build unit cost metrics for document processing (OCR, ingestion pipelines) and map them to revenue-generating workflows
    • Identify and size optimization opportunities; drive accountability on cost reduction initiatives with clear ROI framing
    • Build dashboards and alerting so cost anomalies surface in real time, not at month-end
  • Finance Analytics & Dashboards
    • Design and build dashboards and alerting systems so cost anomalies, margin shifts, and forecasting variances surface in real time, not at month-end
    • Own the Finance team’s analytics stack: evaluate, implement, and maintain BI/reporting tools (e.g., Omni, Snowflake MCP with Claude, or custom solutions)
    • Create self-serve reporting to reduce ad hoc data requests and improve decision speed
    • Develop and maintain data models that connect infrastructure costs, product usage, revenue, and headcount into a unified analytical layer
  • Cross-Functional Initiatives
    • Support board and investor reporting with unit economics narratives
    • Support contribution margin analysis and CAC payback by segment and cohort
    • Lead the annual and quarterly planning processes for Product and Engineering, ensuring headcount and discretionary spend are directed toward the highest-impact initiatives.

Requirements

  • 7+ years of experience, including 2+ years in strategic finance and analytics, with prior experience in private equity, growth equity, venture capital, and/or investment banking.
  • Direct experience with Product Finance, specifically modeling COGS, gross margins, and/or cloud infrastructure costs at a SaaS company with subscription and/or usage-based business models. Familiarity with AI model/LLM token costs and cloud hosting (AWS, Azure, or GCP) is a plus.
  • Demonstrated expertise in pricing analysis or business model transformation (e.g., moving from seats to usage-based pricing).
  • Strong quantitative and financial modeling skills, with the ability to build models from scratch and drive actionable recommendations. You take pride in tackling complex business problems with analytical rigor and keen attention to detail.
  • Proficiency with financial modeling and analytics tools, including Excel, SQL, BI platforms (e.g., Omni, Looker). Experience with Python, dbt, data pipelines, or analytics engineering workflows. Experience with FP&A software is a plus.
  • Exceptional communicator with strong business instincts who can explain financial trade-offs to highly technical engineering and product leaders, build relationships across a wide range of stakeholders, and is not hesitant to voice a point of view.
  • Ability to operate at multiple altitudes: manage through ambiguity, execute projects end-to-end, effectively prioritize, and balance progress with perfection. High degree of empathy and tact required to manage departmental budgets and resource allocation across sensitive corporate functions.
  • You maintain the highest ethical standards, integrity, and credibility, and demonstrate eagerness to learn new technologies and continuously improve.

Educational Background

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Mathematics, Engineering, or other STEM field

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in a SaaS company with a subscription and/or usage-based business model.
  • Familiarity with AI model/LLM token costs and cloud hosting (AWS, Azure, or GCP).
  • Experience with using modern FP&A software (e.g., Pigment, Aleph).

We Offer

  • Competitive Salary & Equity
  • 401(k) Program with Employer Matching
  • Health, Dental, Vision and Life Insurance
  • Short Term and Long Term Disability
  • Commuter Benefits
  • Autonomous Work Environment
  • Workplace Setup Reimbursement
  • Telecomm Stipend
  • Flexible Time Off (FTO) + Holidays
  • Quarterly Team Gatherings
