Job description

About the Position

We are looking for a Technical Project Manager (Industrial / AI / Deployments / Installations) to join our global technology firm based in Zurich. This role involves leading technical implementations at industrial clients, focusing on advanced AI solutions to enhance factory efficiency, safety, and automation processes.

Responsibilities

  • Plan installations with clients (IT, maintenance, production).
  • Coordinate installation work (internal and external).
  • Oversee on-site installations (IP cameras, servers, network).
  • Coordinate IT integration (network, access, security).
  • Solve technical problems in industrial environments.
  • Accept installations and hand over projects to the next phase.
  • Full responsibility for the budget, schedule, and quality of technical implementations.

Typical Implementation:

Implementations include servers and networks for up to 80 IP cameras per floor. Optional components include communication modules like SIM routers or Starlink, speakers, and PLC interfaces with production machines. Implementations typically involve:

  • Remote Planning: Agreeing on schedules, site readiness, access, IT requirements, duties, and risks with the client. Personal site inspections can improve installation planning accuracy.
  • On-site Supervision: Supervising installation work, verifying equipment and connectivity placement, troubleshooting, and coordinating between installers and client teams.
  • Acceptance and Handover: Confirming the correct installation and integration of all equipment to start software deployment and verifying its value.

Factories vary significantly in layout, constraints, and maturity. The ability to navigate imperfect, rapidly changing conditions is required.

Performance Expectations and KPIs:

  • Timely completion of installation and integration stages.
  • Short time from equipment delivery to deployment readiness.
  • Full handover with minimal installation downtime during software deployment.
  • High client satisfaction during the installation phase.

Requirements

Main Requirements:

  • 4+ years of experience in managing technical projects, implementing, or delivering solutions involving physical systems.
  • Experience in industrial / manufacturing / installation environments.
  • Practical experience in areas such as: automation, electrical systems, machine vision, IIoT, robotics, or related fields.
  • Ability to independently plan installations and provide precise instructions to installers.
  • Good knowledge of networks (IP, VLAN, switches, firewalls – practical level).
  • Willingness to travel frequently (min. 50%).
  • Fluency in German and English (meetings, documentation, daily client work).
  • Independence, ownership, ability to work "in the field".
  • Proactivity, responsibility for results, not just plans.

Desirable:

  • Knowledge of PLC environments and machine interfaces.
  • Experience in supervising external contractors or field teams.
  • Experience in validating the deployment of cameras / vision systems for image processing and monitoring.

We Offer

  • Stable, long-term cooperation with an international company, headquartered in Switzerland.
  • Employment under an employment contract through an Employer of Record (EOR).
  • Comprehensive technical implementation and on-site training.
  • Real impact on a key project phase.
  • Work at the intersection of AI – hardware – IT – production.
  • Mobile and remote work – travel accounts for approx. 50% of work time (DACH region).
  • Opportunity to work on international projects and with modern technologies.
  • Full funding for business travel (flights, accommodation, meals, car rental).
