Job description
About the Position
Vernepleier til heldøgnsbolig • Aberia
Location: Oslo, Norway
Job Type: Full-time
Application Deadline: 22 Oct. 2026
About the Role
Are you looking for a work environment that offers more than just routine tasks?
At Aberia, you will find a job filled with responsibility, activity, professional challenges, and close collaboration – all while becoming an integral part of the daily lives of four young adults.
We are specifically seeking care workers for a 100% position in long-term shifts, but we are also interested in candidates with other relevant healthcare and social work backgrounds and experience.
A job where no two days are alike
At our residential care facility in Stabekk, four young adults with developmental disabilities reside. The staffing is tailored to each individual and varies between 1:1 and 2:1.
Your role will go beyond just "being at work." You will become part of the residents' daily lives, helping them utilize their resources, experience success, and lead active and fulfilling lives.
Your workday may include:
- Environmental therapeutic work and follow-up of individual plans and measures
- Practical assistance, care, and support
- Organizing and conducting activities
- Close relationship work with residents
- Documentation and professional follow-up
- Collaboration with colleagues, relatives, and other agencies
- Handling and preventing challenging behavior in a safe and professional manner
And yes – you must be willing to participate in activities, not just organize them.
This can include mountain trips, training, leisure activities, outings, swimming, and other water activities. Some days require more physical presence, while others demand more patience, structure, and professional assessment.
In short: You must enjoy being involved, not just observing.
We are looking for someone who enjoys responsibility and challenges
You do not need many years of experience. The most important thing is that you are confident, eager to learn, and willing to develop.
We believe you will fit well with us if you:
- Are a care worker, nurse, or have other relevant healthcare and social work education
- Are newly graduated or experienced
- Thrive on responsibility and independent work
- Are confident in demanding situations
- Have the ability to stay calm and act professionally
- Enjoy being active and participating in residents' activities
- Work in a structured and goal-oriented manner
- Are solution-oriented and have a can-do attitude
- Collaborate well with others
- Respect individuals and see the person, not just the diagnosis
- Have a Class B driver's license
- Are a proficient swimmer
It is also a requirement that you can complete water lifesaving courses and the mandatory HAVA course, where you will receive training in the prevention and management of challenging and disruptive behavior.
What We Offer
You will find a job where you can combine profession, responsibility, relationships, and activity – and where you can actually see the results of your efforts.
We offer:
- 100% position for care worker in long-term shifts
- 12.5-hour long shifts following a 3/7–4/7 shift pattern
- No overnight stays at the residence
- A small and inclusive work environment
- Interdisciplinary collaboration and close follow-up
- Good opportunities for professional and personal development
- Salary according to the applicable collective agreement
- Pension and insurance scheme
- Occupational health service
- Good employee discounts
- Company sports team
- Injury prevention technique courses
- HAVA course
- Water lifesaving courses
- Aberia School
We believe in RAUSS
At our company, there is room to be both informal and professional.
We work according to the RAUSS principles:
Respect for all
Never give up
Informal, yet professional
Trust others, be trustworthy
See solutions, not problems
Could this be the job for you?
If you enjoy taking responsibility, are comfortable with a workday that can be both physically and professionally demanding, and want a job where you become an important part of others' daily lives – then we would like to hear from you.
You do not need to be "the typical healthcare worker."
You must be confident, engaged, solution-oriented, and ready to join the team.
Apply with us – we look forward to getting to know you!
