Accountant (m/f/d) Financial Accounting

About the Position

We are looking for an Accountant (m/f/d) for our financial accounting department at our Lünen, NRW location, starting March 1, 2027, or as soon as possible, on a full-time or part-time basis.

Department: Finance and Accounting, reporting to the Commercial Management

Following your onboarding, you will be responsible for the proper, complete, and timely execution of ongoing financial accounting tasks. The objective is to ensure accurate bookkeeping in compliance with legal requirements, particularly the German Commercial Code (HGB) and tax regulations.

Furthermore, you will assist in the preparation of monthly and annual financial statements as well as in the optimization of accounting processes.

You are responsible for:

• The factually and arithmetically correct recording of assigned business transactions
• Compliance with internal accounting guidelines and legal requirements
• The timely processing of assigned tasks
• The completeness and traceability of accounting records
• The early reporting of discrepancies and accounting risks

Approval and signing authorities are governed by internal company policies.

Responsibilities

Ongoing Financial Accounting

• Independent processing and booking of all business transactions
• Account assignment and booking of incoming and outgoing invoices
• Execution of accounts receivable and accounts payable accounting
• Maintenance and reconciliation of general ledger accounts
• Booking and reconciliation of bank and cash accounts
• Monitoring and clarification of open items
• Execution of regular account reconciliations

Payment Transactions and Receivables Management

• Preparation and execution of payment transactions
• Monitoring of incoming and outgoing payments
• Processing of dunning procedures
• Clarification of payment discrepancies
• Monitoring of payment deadlines and cash discount opportunities

Monthly and Annual Financial Statements

• Assistance in the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements according to HGB
• Preparation and booking of accruals and deferrals
• Creation of account proofs and reconciliation documents
• Support with closing activities and analyses
• Collaboration with tax advisors and auditors

Tax Tasks

• Preparation of VAT returns
• Review of the VAT treatment of business transactions
• Support with tax filings and analyses
• Compliance with tax regulations and deadlines

Fixed Asset Accounting

• Recording and maintenance of fixed assets
• Booking of additions and disposals
• Calculation and booking of depreciation
• Reconciliation of fixed asset accounting with financial accounting

Reporting and Process Optimization

• Preparation of management reports and analyses
• Support with liquidity planning
• Processing financial data for management
• Assisting in the digitalization and optimization of accounting processes
• Ensuring proper document filing and record-keeping

Qualifications

• Completed commercial training, ideally with a focus on accounting or tax
• Several years of professional experience in financial accounting preferred
• Solid knowledge of HGB accounting principles
• Knowledge of VAT law
• Proficiency in MS Office, especially Excel
• Experience with accounting software, preferably DATEV
• Knowledge of preparing and finalizing monthly and annual financial statements
