Controller

Our client in the construction industry is searching for a Controller to take over a currently open position. This is predominantly an onsite position. Work from home may be available in the future.

Responsibilities

• General Ledger Maintenance
• Accounts Payable
• Accounts Receivable
• Payroll and Benefits
• Organization’s Banking
• Financial Reporting
• Budgets and Forecasting
• Insurance
• Subcontracts
• Supervise all financial aspects of operations to ensure an accurate and timely monthly financial close.
• Ensure accurate equipment accounting and charging of equipment as applicable.
• Supervise and train accounting staff and administrative staff.
• Work closely with Project Leaders to monitor, project, and improve financial performance.
• Lead weekly & monthly KPI meetings and ensure completion of improvement plans.
• Review capital projects prior to submission for approval to ensure completeness and adherence to corporate policy.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree in business/Accounting/Finance from an accredited post-secondary institution.
• 5-10 years of progressive accounting experience, preferably in construction.
• Experience with budgeting and construction cost accounting.
• Possess an understanding of U.S. GAAP and Internal Controls.
• Experience with ERP systems (Foundations).
• Able to collaborate and communicate across the business.
• Capable of building professional relationships with leaders and external networks.
• Excellent customer service orientation.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
• Laser focus attention to detail with the discipline to ensure accurate and quality work.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Flexibility and the ability to operate under stressful, time-sensitive deadlines.
• Proficiency in Excel required.
